I've had an aquarium for a few years and a friend gave me some convict and jack dempsey cichlids. I have a 30gal now and will be upgrading to a 55gal in a few weeks. These fish are great to watch and the kids love them.

They are so relaxing. And honestly I haven't touched my rc stuff but only once this year. I've been pricing rocks I can't believe what they charge. The lady at the pet store said to go with drift wood and a few leafy plants for the dempseys to spawn on so I might go that route.

I had a group of them in a 55 gallon, and one fish kept killing all the others so i left him by himself, had him for 3 years, when he died he weighted almost 6 pounds, after i lost him i gave up the hobby, sold the tank and used the mahogany stand for a TV stand.....LOL:hehe:

I bought a set of dempsey's several years ago and actually got 2 egg cycles out of them with 100's of babies. By far the coolest fish I've ever had until the female died. Once she ied the male only survived about 1yr

I know for sure I have one jack he is about 2inches and a ton of convicts. There are also 3 2in fish I have no idea what they are. They are similar to the jack just dull in color.

My sister has one in a tank in her Office named Hannibal Lechter. He has eaten every other fish put in the tank with him.

Had some, my favorites were the black convicts. Buddy of mine had a tank full of babies and gave me two. One ended up with a swim bladder problem, when it got lazy it would float sideways. The other one helped himself to eight community fish in one night, this was while it was still a little guy. Kept him for a good 3-4 years before he died. Tried other cichlids, but it just wasn't the same.

My son is so excited I told him he can have the 30gal in his room. And he can decorate it anyway he wants. Its going to be a pita moving the tank upstairs and setting it up again.
