I am by no means good at driving around a track. I like to occasionally head down to Tacoma RC Raceway in Tacoma, WA http://www.tacomarc.com/. My current lineup is a Tekno SCT410.3 and a Tekno ET410.2. I love driving the SCT around the smallish indoor clay track. I can drift it around the corners and have a blast. The truggy however, I have a very hard time going around corners. I can't seem to whip the rear around like I do with the SCT. I tried some different tuning and controller settings to no avail. Someone let me drive their Associated buggy the last time I was there and boy was that thing nimble. I am assuming its because of the narrower stance and being 2wd. This is a very tight and technical track. I am really contemplating building an Associated B7D. That is what a lot of people drive there. I have no intentions on racing. For electronics I would take the Hobbywing XR10 Pro and servo out of my truggy and most likely get a 17.5t motor to put in (The ET410.2 has a 4300kv). As for tires, I will see what the local guys are running. Any thoughts?

My thoughts, without owning either of these kits...
Your Tekno is heavier than the Associated. Its going to feel it when you're on the track.
Chassis design and motor location might also play into the feel.
The Associated should be a good build and a fine racer when you're thru.

No idea why that is in bold type but I hope you REALLY pay attention to it anyways!🤣

That’s an excellent plan even if you’re just driving for fun. As the saying goes, ”When in Loce, do as the locals do.”

Your only risk is that you get an irresistible urge to start racing. If you don’t, that’s OK. If you do, you’ll have the best car you can have for the task. While it’s always debatable which brand is best, the consensus is to choose a locally supported platform.
