No doubt RC has been very good to me. Over the past few years I have learned to run and repair all sorts of stuff. I now have 4 cars, 3 planes and 1 heli. But now that I'm about to purchase the house that I'm renting, another bug has bitten me.
That ancient craft of making useful items out of otherwise inanimate slabs of wood. Since I have been bestowed the garage to use as I see fit, I have managed to build a little makeshift workbench and made room to house my tools. The drill press, band saw and table saw are all new.

The rollaway tool chest was my Valentine's Day gift last year and holds all my mechanics tools as well as my hand drill, Dremel, and random orbit sander. Under the table I have 2 more tool boxes with assorted tools, 2 routers (1 Craftsman plunge and a Skil with plunge and fixed bases.), a router table, circular saw, jig saw and a compound miter saw. So at this point it looks like I'm good and set for some killer household projects.

Nice tools bro.I had a chance to go to college on a carpentry scholarship and turned it down.Man was I stupid..I love working with wood and building things..

Got a few woodworking tools myself, I like working with wood.
Something about taking a few pieces of wood that look like absolutely nothing and making something nice. Haven't did anything for a while.

Also it makes for an excuse to get tools to work on RC stuff.
I was real hard into scratch building aircraft, needed a small band saw. Told the 'ol lady I could use it for stuff around the house too. Never used it for anything on the house. Used it on 4 or 5 planes though. :LoL:

Very Nice Candyman! I am in no way qualified to use any of those tools! LOL I am a danger to myself.... just ask my wife! Have fun and enjoy yourself. I promise you will have no problems coming up with things to do around the house.

I was remodeling my bathroom. All I had was a hack saw to cut one of those old 4" cast iron sewer pipes. 30 minutes later, I was at the store buying a sawzall. A corded Milwauke, but I love it. It'll cut through anything.

Battery is the way to go. Got a few. I keep looking at the sets they have out. Cords don't bother me for the most part. But get on a ladder and try to work. Need to do something on the other end of my small property... Need to find an extension cord. Never there when ya need it.

Oh and it doesn't matter... the zombies will always come.

Either way, Candyman has officialy made it to my "Zombie Invasion Survival Team" list.


Nice set of tools there mate, hallways good to have those types of things around, never know when they might come in handy.

hey candy man i had the band saw and had problems with it mine in the first week broke a belt due to a wood chip getting inside and getting caught in it.

and in my town there wasn't a repair or parts centr that carried their parts

Looks really nice, Candyman. I've recently been working on a project with a new set of Ryobi tools (table saw, plunge/table router, miter saw, jig saw, and sawzall). I even picked up a craftsman benchtop drill press at a yard sale for $3 (the problem? missing the key for the chuck - that's all), and a decent cordless drill and cordless finish nailer (that thing is fun to use, lol) at Big Lots for about $20 apiece.

It's the first time I've had decent tools to work with, and let me tell you; the tools really DO make a difference. I recently had to make a box for my moms' dog (lymphoma/old age). It's good practice for making a shelving unit/entertainment center.

Ryobi's are actually pretty durable. They sure beat the harbor freight refurbs!

You should make those to sell, I would buy one.
Drop some stain on it and weather seal it, would last forever and look nice on any workbench.

It was actually pretty easy to make. Just some post-card sized scraps of 11/32nd inch ply and some small 3/4x3/4 square stock, cut just long enough to let the longest of the glow lighters dangle.

I used one 5/8 inch brad per corner leg, per end (total of 8) to hold it all together. I drilled the 6 holes (I figured an extra hole if I ever got another ignitor would be handy) before assembly.

Staining/finishing it, I thought about that too.... I'm just happy leaving it natural.. I might smear some oil on it later on.

Hobbies hobbies hobbies, my wife say's I have to many. I love photography and have started to get back into that. I'm a ham radio operator so when I get the itch I'll sit down in my basement for hours and play on the radio. I've got my 3 Rc's that I get the itch every now and again to mess with. I also enjoy turning on my lap top and flying Microsoft FSX for hours. Then there is my garage let's see table saw, 2 drills, 1 drill press, 3 sanders, wood clamps and shop radio, Yup wood working is hobbie # 6 let me not forget about hunting, fishing, canoeing. No wonder my wife gets on my butt about not getting thing done LOL
