Mine never quit it was just so frigin weak. I replaced it with the controversial Towerpro MG996R for $10 9 months ago and haven't had a problem. Its probably not good for racing but it works just fine for my basher. The difference is huge in speed and power. The hpi servo wouldn't even move the tires at a stand still with a fully charged hump pack.

I've never had any problems with the factory servo's going out, I think they just aren't as strong as some better aftermarket servos, my savage has Hi-tec servos in it, don't remember the part number right off but looked them up, they sell for around $ 50 each. My buddy Tony told me the better the servo ( steering) the better control, and he said a good radio system makes a big difference. I got lucky on my savage, someone had allready put both hi-tec servos in, so i just ordered a futaba 3pl radio system. it has abs braking among other features, and savages aren't really famous for their stopping power. So I hope " THE BEAST" my project savage, will turn and stop pretty good. just my thoughts

Both of mine quit within a month of getting the truck (Savage XL) I bought it brand new. I replaced the steering servo with a Savox SC-1256TG and I use a Traxxas 2056wp for my throttle and brake.

i still have the original servos in my savage 25 since new
i have broken maybe 20 dollars worth of parts and this engine has over 15 gallons thru it and never been rebuilt

run rich piston on the bottom after running and after run oil
its my little Timex keeps on ticking
i have no idea why other people have alot of problems
maybe i am the extremly lucky one

WOW, 15 gallons, thats great service, we got almost 12 through my sons T-maxx before it detonated! and man did it, the rod went through the piston, and slapped the head. I'd be lookin for a new mill as a back up if it were me. good luck though.

I'm the third owner of my savage 25 and as far as i can tell it's still running with factory servos.

My throttle/brake servo went out the day after I broke it in, right when I finally got it tuned right and ready to bash. I just upgraded it to a Hi-tec throttle/brake servo. When I slam on the brakes now, my truck does a nose wheelie. When I'm really flying I have to be easy on the brakes, if I slam it it will do a front flip. I didn't touch the steering servo yet. I'll just wait till it goes out to replace.

I dont care what anyone says for an average price of 10-12 bucks ea. the MG996R's are great bashing servos. I have a couple of them in kits and I have no complaints. Sure they arent quite as smooth as a digital servo but they work well, seem to last (oldest one I have is about a year old so its hard to speak real long term), and they have plenty of torque.

I actually used a steering servo fron a Cen Genesis for my VXL Rustler. It has overkill torque for my Rusty but the thing that I like about it is I have my VXL Rusty set up to do speed runs and the Cen servo has a reaction speed of like .21 or .23 something like that....its really slow in comparison with most high torque servos especially the good ones but I actually like it because it makes it easier for me to control when its running at high speeds. Yeah I know I could do the same thing with my TX settings but I originally bought it for a friend who doesn't have much money and was having trouble getting his truck up and running. I think I got it for like 6 bucks off of ebay. As it turns out he mustered up the cash to by a JR servo and turns out he didnt need this so I was like what the hell Ill try it out....Honestly for a 6 dollar servo I can't complain. I wouldn't want to use it in any other capacity though. I have other better servos on standby waiting to take this ones place if it ever starts acting up :)

the steering servo on my x 4.6 totally crapped out before i even finished breakin & my brother bought same truck new & had his crap out in less than 1/2 gallon. guess we're not so lucky.

My father has had a savage for ten years(it was on a shelf for 4-9 but it still has the same Servos and battery pack in the truck. Also the same wheels and dog bones. We just put a new engine in it litterally five days ago and it runs beautifully. Believe me we wailed on that thong hard. The savage is easily the best truck for the money. There is only one thing to watch out for and that's the one way herring in the pullstart/rotostart. If you don't abuse that truck it will last for a long time.

What model savage are you Using? PLEASE replay.

I'm about the same amount in... and I've had no issues what so ever. why would you have to be lucky in order to have your servos last ???? I think they will last fine.. dont see any reasons why they would just stop working. they are quality.
