Is golden horizon any good. I was thinking of getting alluminum bulkheads and since Integy is apparent crap I dont know where to turn. I'm open to suggestions

Golden horizons is OK I think. There is also New era, FLM, and Innovative. Not sure what all they carry but whatever it is it's alluminum and not Integy.

I used Golden Horizons for my alu. diff cups on my Savage. Greatly machined, no problems with them.

You have to also remember that GH is not only a forum sponsor, but has a Lifetime Warranty. You don't see that anymore. I'd buy any thing aluminum from them.

You can't go wrong with a forum sponser plus lifetime warranty. I cannot stress enough to stay right away from integy. I dont even think it was designed to be used, probably ok if your Rolex.. :D:p:

Lifetime warranty u say?.. hmmm I'm also looking to buy a front center cvd driveshaft. My T maxx came with alluminum rear drive shaft. So right now its only 2WD. It has the BB extended chassis so what length am I looking for?

GH is really good. I had bought a few alloy bits back in the day for a t-maxx when I had one. The fit and finish was 100% better than integy, not even in the same category really. The threads for bolts were nice and tight and I never bent a part like I did with integy.

All TMaxx entended chassis conversions are extended in the area behind the engine mount. This is why conversion kits come with extended driveshafts or extended chasis braces and/or extended rear skid plate. The length of the front center driveshaft is the same with your chassis as it is with a stock chassis. So basically any aftermarket CVD for the front center will fit.

So how do I know how long of a driveshaft I need for the rear? Right now it has a sliding one ( plastic) and I have it slid all the way up.

Unfortnately, there is no market standard for this sort of thing. I've had two different T-Maxx extended chassis and they weren't even close to the same length. One was a good half inch longer than the other. Generally, when yo purchase a conversion kit it comes with two outdrives (one for the rear tranny output and one for the rear diff) and an appropriate length rear center drive shaft. My FastLane kit came with the main chassis, extended chassis braces, rear center driveshaft and big block engine mount along with the appriate hardware.

Yeah the only problem here is I didnt buy this chassis. A friend had bits and peices of a truck so I traded him my old PS2 and a couple games for it. Grabbed his box of parts and bag of bolts and went to town. The pics youve seen in my big block conversino thread is the result. Not pretty but its gettin there. After its all said and done ill prolly strip it and powder coat it. I'm not much on purple.. lol

Well, here's the thing... with a big block engine your gonna toast that plastic center drive anyways. May I suggest this... check out www.rcalloys.com They make custom driveshafts. I have front and rear center shafts made by them and they are ultra beefy. You can just email [email protected] and tell him what you need. He'll tell you how to take the proper measurement. You won't get off too cheap here though... my rear center I just bought a couple weeks ago ran me $23 shipped and that was the shaft only, no outdrives.

Thanks I have mailed him and eagerly await his reply:D You know after figuring what I have invested so far in this "parts truck" I could have ALMOST bought a new T maxx 3.3. However I would have only began to upgrade it as well, so maybe I'm better off doing what I'm doing. :hehe:

I have a big block Maxx as well. I can't tell you how much money I've put into a TMaxx over the past few years. Anyways, I don't care. It's fun. I'm about 95% finished building what I consider to me the ultimate 1/8 scale Tmaxx. I spared no expense really. I need to do a price breakdown sometime just for the heck of it.
