Al bulkhead preferences

I've used stock plastic (crapxas), integy and ACNCM. ACNCM being the cheapest al ones I could find, were way beefier than the integy's. I had a severe (really severe) crash a couple days ago. All 4 skid plate bolts on the front were sheared off, all 4 hinge pins were bent (titanium), a big nick in one of the bulkheads from the concrete curb I hit at WOT, but they aren't bent. Couldn't get the remaining part of the screws out, so i had to replace the bulks. Ended up with another set of integy's. It was $29 for integy, or $69 for dynamite (LHS). Can't beat the price for integy's since dynamites are basically the same.

Another thing you have to thing about with al bulks is hinge pin wear. RC-Solutions found a way around this by putting a set screw on the pin so it doesn't rotate. I mod'd my integy's i just put on to do the same. Although, integy doesn't have that cool connector plate that helps the hinge pins not bend. Just by looking, I'd have to say RC-Solutions are going to be the best for the $. Long life, no wear and good design adds up to no replacement. Unless you shear the screws off like I did, then your kind of "screwed" (pun intended).

Anyone know how to get a sheared off screw out of aluminum that was put in using blue locktight? Most of my screws are of the stainless type.

You have to heat the bulkhead to break down the loctite. You can then use a screw remover like the Craftsman set that essentially digs into whatever is left and backs it out. Your other option it to drill them out using a very tiny drill bit.

Do you have a link to the craftsman thing? Was it something like these:
http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/prod...V_UseBVCookie=Yes&vertical=TOOL&bidsite=CRAFT

Just curious since i think most of the bolts are 2.5mm which is smaller than the 3mm in this kit. Or is it just the head that is 2.5mm, but the actual threaded part is 3mm?

I tried the drill and since i don't have a shop/garage/real work space, i'm working on my dining room table. Wifes real happy about that. Anyway, I don't have a vice or anything, so I was holding it in my hand and slipped. Now I have a hole in my hand. Stupid drill.

Hey guys,
The price of the VBS System is quite high, but if you look again they are not over $500. The ones for over $500, come with the aluminum shock towers, and I beleive something else. If you just want the VBS System, you can pick it up for $300 something. Take a closer look, these are the newest invention for T-Maxx's. This is the way to go, seeing as how they are basically reversed in their design. They will be able to handle the abuse of even El Pirata. With these things, SkyMaxx will be able to put his T-Maxx finally in the Sky!! LMAO! Anyway, just my two cent's! But, if you are just looking for bulks, go with great assemblies!! Nothing can beat their quality!

The rumor I heard was that GAs are made by the same people that make the Fast Lane parts.

Take it with a grain of salt, but I'm sure its quite possible.

Olds,

Sorry about not getting back to you last night. Missed the thread. Yes, those are exactly what I am referring to.

Getting screws out used to be a pain. Ever since I bought a small bit set, and taps I haven't had an issue. I just use the smallest bit possible, then work my way up.

If the screw doesn't come out, I re-thread the hole the next size up. I started doing this working on 1-1 cars. I had a knack for twisting off the worst (like oil pan bolts, and header bolts). Anyways if it looks tough, I just oversize drill and tap it. It's easier than it seems.

Hello fellow Maxxers..

Purchased a complete set of Traxxas alloy units a few months back and destroyed them when I "thought" I ran over a small mountain of snow at WOT in 2nd gear. It wasn't snow - it was a brick hiding under a thick layer of snow. Construction sites... gotta love 'em! :censored:

Anyhow... cost me a set of front bulkheads, titanium hinge pins and RPM lower arm. Recently sold my rear TRX bulkhead unit cause I'm going with a purple thyme.

Whats this I hear about RC Solution bulkheads? Been on their site and can't seem to locate them. Link would be appreciated.

I'm thinking of getting a complete set of Integy units. Anyone object?

Here you go.

RC Solutions Bulks

I have a set and recommend them to anyone in the market for alum bulks.

Bookmarking the page doesn't work (I assume they are starting a new web session everytime you hit the site).

Go to www.rc-solutions.com, click on Products, and then all the way at the bottom of the page you'll see hyperlinked numbers (1 thru 3). The bulks are at the top of page 2.

No purple though :(

In case you didnt see my previous post (it is at the end of page 2 in this thread):

Thanks Chris :) I also pm'ed you.

What about the FLM bulkheads... now theres an idea!

Anyone running Ofna 4, 6 or even 8 spider gear diff units in their Maxx? I'd like to know of these units handle the abuse of a big block. Can the Ofna diff units be dropped in the FLM pieces without mods?
