Can an airplane nitro motor be used in a truck? I have an OS LA .40 engine laying around and was just wondering what to do with it. Is this type of motor different than a car or truck motor. Has anyone used one in a wheeled vehicle?

There are a few people out there that have. I even saw a prop driven monster truck. One thing you'll need to consider is a larger heat sink on the head since the engine was designed to have more air flow than a monster truck will provide.

Do you know what has to be done to the output shaft to attach the clutch an pinion gear?

Airplane engines only run about 13,000-15,000 rpm on a plane, so they will probably blow a rod if you rev it too high. The savage Truckzilla kit comes with a .46 converted airplane engine, the head might fit your os.
