OK, Does anyone have an exploded veiw of the stock traxxas air filter? I am trying to put mine together and it just doesn't look right.

I read tha manual, it doesn't show a veiw, just an explanation. Their explanationassumes I watched when i took it apart :opps:

Thanks

Hmmm...this one seems to be a bit of a no-brainer. What doesn't look right?

According to the manual, the filter comes in three pieces ( a neck piece for attaching to the carb, a body piece with attached mesh screen at the top, and an oiled filter element which goes inside the body).

Should be as straight forward as removing the bottom of the filter body, removing the filter element, cleaning and re-oiling it, then reverse the process. Put the element back in the body, re-attach the base, and then stick it back on the carb.

Not certain as to what is the problem. Can you describe the difficulty you are having?

When I opened it up, there is mopre inside than just oa one peice foam filter. There are three peices, a foam disk, and a foam donut, and a washer. Not to mention the neck, and the lid

**edit** It just doesn't look like it can get enough air through it to feed the motor.

Does it look like ti did before you took it apart? If not search the gallery for a pic of a t-maxx of what the filter is supposed to look like.

Hmmm...the donut and disk element sound right. The washer brings a question mark.

If I were you, I'd throw that POS away and get myself a nice MotorSaver air filter. Much nicer and lots of air flow.

Ithink I'll hitup the LHS tomorrow and do just that. In the mean while, My XTM filter will have to do (i like it) 2-stage

in one of the RCCA magazines they threw that traxxas t-maxx filter on a 2500$ dollar project savage, claiming its the best filter on the market as far as filtering is concernd. hehe who knows.

Uuuuuhhhh.

Lykan - Your obviously talking about the older T-maxx .15 air filter with the smaller carb and not the new 2.5 Air filter with the larger carb. EDIT - Like Sky said, Get yourself a Motor Saver filter, they kick ass and act as a slight air intake as your getting ALLOT more air into your engine.

As for RCCA magazine, I would seriously question their credibility and/or motive/s (HEHE). The Motor Saver air filter is MUCH better IME then the air filter your talking about. It has 360degree filtration and brings in ALLOT more air. If your driving in some nasty off road conditions you can upgrade to three stage filtration and use it when you need it.

Peace

Regardless of which filter he might be describing, there is no way that the TRAXXAS POS air filter is a better air filter. It might work great as an air dam as it certainly limits the air flow into the engine, but a better filter.

Wait a minute. Less air to get into the engine means less dirt and particulate matter to filter; therefore the filter must be the bomb because it doesn't let anything into the engine.

That logic will work, but the performance of the engine will certainly suffer for it. The MotorSaver on the otherhand allows for greater airflow and has a three stage filtration system that works like a champ.

Just some food for thought.

Sky is making a very good point. I use the Traxxas stock filter as back up to the Motorsaver my Maxx now has. Hey Sky I was just answering his question. I agree that the stock one does not allow the same amount of air flow or protection as the

No problem, jon2. I wasn't really busting on you. Just providing some clarifying information on a few posts (yours and others).

Oh sure SKY you always like taking the glory. LOL Just kidding Sky. I know that you give sound advice and I take some time to listen to your posts.

That's me, the resident glory hound. :D LOL. Thanks for the compliment.

Ok, I'm going to get a picture of this thing and you guys can tell me what it is.

Lykan,

If you saw this post before I edited it, disregard. The image now shows up just fine.

That is the MotorSaver air filter for a .15 engine.

The washer goes in the bottom of the basket, then the donut looking filter, then the disk looking filter and then the screen top.
