Good morning to all-
So even thought this morning was chilly- almost cold, in fact, the wind had stopped blowing for a change, so I took myself and my UMX Turbo Timber back to the field behind our house. I must confess, I am coming to enjoy these little STOL rc planes a great deal. I find it fun to be able to take off and land from pretty rough grass and dirt and do some slow circuits and lots of full-stop landings for practice and landing skills development.

So I landed the plane near some brush and bushes which border the open field, and without any warning or reason, one of the neighbor's orange and white tomcats bolted from the cover and charged my little plane. The cat stopped short, circled the plane cautiously and went up and sniffed the nearest wing. I bumped the throttle so the prop would spin, and the cat jumped back. I shut down the throttle and the cat came closer again. another bump and another jump back by the cat. Then I decided to fly some more and gave the gas and the plane bumped and rolled across the rough grass and took to the air as it does. The attacking cat chased and jumped, but the plane got away.

I decided to have some fun, so I made some low and slow circles- about three feet off the ground, I'd say, and the cat chased after. After a while of this, the cat got tired and ran back to its position of concealment in the bushes.

So, I guess this would qualify as an "attack" but really, I think both of us were just having fun with an rc plane- imagine that, having fun fun with an rc plane...

you all be safe and keep well- Ed

So this is tri-plane???🤔😎
What a cool and crazy flying contraption!

I can see Snoopy parachuting into a field in hostile feline territory after getting shot down! 🤣
The radial engine is a gnome, its wild, like a outrunner lectric motor. The crank shaft is fixed to the firewall and the cylinders spin with the prop. I runs on a castor style oil which will cause all pilots to barf. Talk about torque. Yes these birds were monsters, and they sounded like they were starting and cutting out when flying. No parachutes in ww1, you just crash and burn.

Back when machines like this were built by ARTISTS!!! What an absolutely goreous piece of engine that is!

Is the 3 wing actually stable or is it a disadvantage?

I think Snoopy used Linus' blanket as a parachute for the cartoon. 🤣

Beautiful old bird! 🥰😍🤩

You Dutch? Anywho its a Dutch designed bird, they are kind of zany up north of Germany. Germans bought a few of them just to be cool with their flying circus antics. The the Dri Decker or tri wing climbed like a monkey in the trees, landings sucked though. Fokker birdies were popular, they also had the Fokker tri motor in ww-2. Yeup the Porsche boxter is the Dutch replacement for the Volkswagen 944 also. Gotta love the party animals known as zie Dutch. Now where are my wooden clogs?

The old VW bugs used to use Porsche engines as "hop ups" too! 😎
Lol! No shortage of lift with all that wing area, huh?
Such a cool period for flying machines! 😎
