Good morning to all-
So even thought this morning was chilly- almost cold, in fact, the wind had stopped blowing for a change, so I took myself and my UMX Turbo Timber back to the field behind our house. I must confess, I am coming to enjoy these little STOL rc planes a great deal. I find it fun to be able to take off and land from pretty rough grass and dirt and do some slow circuits and lots of full-stop landings for practice and landing skills development.
So I landed the plane near some brush and bushes which border the open field, and without any warning or reason, one of the neighbor's orange and white tomcats bolted from the cover and charged my little plane. The cat stopped short, circled the plane cautiously and went up and sniffed the nearest wing. I bumped the throttle so the prop would spin, and the cat jumped back. I shut down the throttle and the cat came closer again. another bump and another jump back by the cat. Then I decided to fly some more and gave the gas and the plane bumped and rolled across the rough grass and took to the air as it does. The attacking cat chased and jumped, but the plane got away.
I decided to have some fun, so I made some low and slow circles- about three feet off the ground, I'd say, and the cat chased after. After a while of this, the cat got tired and ran back to its position of concealment in the bushes.
So, I guess this would qualify as an "attack" but really, I think both of us were just having fun with an rc plane- imagine that, having fun fun with an rc plane...
you all be safe and keep well- Ed
