Well I'm sick and tired of all my radios crapping out. I have three radios: 2 Airtronics Blazer's and a Hitec Lynx Sport. As of now the Hitec is the only one to survive the rigors of actually working lol.

Anyway, I've got about 100$ to spend on a new radio, one that'll last. I've already got servos, just need a Tx and a Rx that won't have a 50/50 shot at working. I'm really looking at the Airtronics MX-3. Thanks for and advice!

Also, if I buy the radio in the same channel as a reciever I already have I can use the MX-3 on all the R/Cs on that channel right? And use the model memory for all the trims?

Thanks!

C'mon guys, I wanna order o new radio tonight. I need your opinions!

See my post on radios on the 1/8 Buggy Forum, looks like the Futaba 3PK and MX-3 are the budget radios worthy of purchase

This isn't necessarily true. I have the mx-3 and it's FM. I don't know what the other radio's are that you have. If they are AM, then it won't work with any of them. If they are FM, then it might.

What I do know about the MX-3 is that the FM receiver that comes with it is $70 on it's own. I think you can buy a novak FM receiver that will work with it for $60, but I don't know personally if it will work.

I have the MX-3 and it's a nice radio. I like it better than the traxxas tq3 (POS) and the JR XR2 that came with my xxx-nt. I think it will support up to 4 different settings for vehicles.

But it is a narrow band FM if I'm not mistaken. I know it's FM, but I don't know if it's narrow, extra narrow or what either of those really mean.

The others I have are in my first post, 2 Airtronics Blazers and 1 Hitec lynx Sport. Do you you know if these are AM? If they are they won't work right?

That's what I meant when I said I don't know what they are. I saw the names, but I don't know if they are AM or FM. If they are AM, the receivers will not work with the MX-3. If they are FM, they might work, but I wouldn't put money on it.

Hitec has a new computer radio coming out called the Aggressor SRX that is suppose to start at $100, it is a 3 channel FM radio with a 10 model memory and should be available right around now maybe take a look at it, Sounds pretty good for $100.

I really want an AM radio though. If the recievers are cheaper than Airtronics then mabye I'll get that but the Airtronics MX-A is sounding like exactly what I need. Anyone have one or no much about the MX-A?

Edit: Well, I called up Airtronics and talked to an actual person and he said that the Blazer Sport recievers will work with the MX-A. So I ordered up the MX-A for 60 bux on HobbyPeople.

If you want an AM radio, and have $100 to spend, look at the Futaba 2PL....Lots of adjustments for little money...I've used Futaba radios for 20 years, and have had NO problems with them, at all.

Well I recieved my MX-A today and WOW! This is one nice radio. The only differences between it and the MX-3 are it came with a 2 ch reciever, micro sized, and it is AM. Also the price was 60 bux for the Tx, Rx, switch, batt holder, and one standard servo. Now that's a great buy IMO.

But, it doesn't actually work with my old recivers. I think the recivers are busted because it works fine with the new reciver but not with the old ones. They are both 75 mhz on channel 84. I'm gunna work on that and I'll let you know how it works.

Thanks for all or your help guys!

That's why I have more transmiters then I have receivers LOL, But that just kinda the way things work. Well hope that MX A works out for ya, I have an MK3 but need a new FM receiver for that one cause the one I got was damaged in a little accident. :boxing:

The MX-A rocks! I got it at a great price, only 5 bux more than a Blazer w/2 servos. (The MX-A came with 1)

I just love being able to program EPA, digital trim, and even check the voltage. It's great!
