1st meeting of our season yesterday and this year we have a Truggie class.

The 1st time i'd seen a HF on a track and I have to say that I was impressed with its performance.

In Handling it was almost as good as a buggy, acceleration was almost as good as a buggy and top end wasn't far off either. Its lap times were comparable with a reasonably well driven buggy. Infact it would have qualified for the top end of the C final.

Then it broke on a flat 4 wheel landing.......

Is the verdict then that the Hellfire with its .28 engine is almost as good as a .21 engined buggy?

For me, yeah. On my track, me driving my MBX (with S7 II) would be quicker than me with a HF but not by much (maybe a 3-5 seconds a lap). However our track has bumps and holes and only a couple of jumps, a rougher track with craters and hills may suit a HF better.

I was seriously impressed by the performance up until it broke though.

It left me with the feeling of "Whats the point?" it can't bash like a savage can and can't beat a buggy...

I have 4 heats and 2 mains on my hellfire.
The new SS kit is on the way so get it if you have the $$$
The RTR needs a servo, radio upgrade, Softer rear springs and that is about it, to race pretty well. The most tunable truggy available.Too adjustable for me. I dont have time to fool with half a dozen suspension adjustments in 1 day.

Tires and rims, Nubz are awesome. Dont get CRT wheels, too much offset. Also ditch the front swaybar. Way better steering response.

I broke it in and ran it all one day. I must say this is a great truggy. It takes the jumps really well and handles ok since I changed the shock oil weights and diff oil weights as well. Now I need to try out the Nubz that everyone is talking about which I purchased today.

nubz are hit or miss on your track ... personally i like the crimefighters and or the panther boas... however boas need a aftermarket foam as they will deteriorate after little run time!!

try them all out and see what you like the best

Nubz

I agree it is a hit or miss. It is a miss for me where I tried them out, I kept on drifting on the dusty and loose dirt track. Nubz are like my Bowties which I know that on hard packed prepped dirt track it will have way better traction.

Anyone know what shims to use so I can eliminate some of the slob at the wheel hubs?

I just also want to comment in this thread if you have not requested your updated arms for your Hellfire call up HPI they will resolve your issue quick. I got mine in a week. Their customer support is great.
