Everest should already have 4 wheel steer mine dose
And no lie for the price and do little upgrades it’s my basher and dose very well

The Gen 7 is a good starter rig and I still run mine. It isn't rear steer but it is set up to complete the mod if you want. I built one with rear steer but didn't use it much so I broke it down for parts to use elsewhere. I say go for it.

Can you vote if it’s a good beginner car or not
Look at what Biq Squid had to say about the Gen 7: https://www.bigsquidrc.com/redcat-racing-everest-gen7-pro-review/ This is a quote from that review: "The new Redcat is not messing around. Their Gen7 Pro scale crawler is legit, and more importantly, is perhaps the best truck Redcat has ever let loose on the public. We are big fans and can highly recommend it to all you scale crawling fanatics." They make it seem like its easy for anyone, from beginner to expert to use, as well as work on (i dont work on our crawlers, that is all up to my GF, and i typically leave her to herself when she does, so i can't say anything for that part of it). I almost bought one after reading that review, but, instead went with the Gen 8, and my 10 year old has no issues running it, so i would say it is a very good choice for a beginner. I also have a Everest 10, and recently picked up an Everest 7, and, my personal opinion, i like the 8 best. My GF, who is way more into crawlers than i am, likes them about equally.

I moved your new thread to the trash, sorry but you were basically asking the same thing as in this thread. Better to keep it in here for one good reference thread.

Anyone here with a gen 7, especially if you have a thread can you link it to give @Addict Rc some ideas or post a list of some necessary mods.

Is it a good car and is there a rear steer kit?
I've heard it's a pretty good beginner 1/10 scale crawler, and I think they have decent aftermarket support, someone correct me if I'm wrong. There doesn't seem to be a rear steer kit from Redcat, but others sell rear steer conversion kits. Apparently one of flaws of the Gen 7 is the turning radius, so the rear steer will help whip that rear end right around. Are you set on a crawler, and will it be your first car? Are you only interested in 1/10 scale crawlers only?

BTW I voted :)

@The_RC_Dude
Are you set on a crawler
yes I'm set on a crawler.

will it be your first car?
no its not my first car i own a traxxas slash 2wd with a vxl3 and a latrax rally, but this will be my first crawler.

Are you only interested in 1/10 scale crawlers only?
yes i find 1/10 are easier to work on and i have anothor post where i showed my log pile i want to build a crawler course out of and its bigger logs not for anything other than 1/10 crawling.

Oh, I want a crawler, but I probably can't get one soon (budget 🙄), I'm strongly considering an SCX24 as my next, third RC. And no, I already have two RCs, so a crawler wouldn't be my first RC, but it would be my first crawler! One day I'll get in on all this crawling action!

I asked so that I could get an idea of what you want, because maybe a different car would be better, but it seems good for you. Ok, so you should already have some chargers and LiPos then!

I'm up for just about nay crawler, it's just my budget, I don't have tons of $$ to spend, so I'm leaning towards a 1/24 scale rig, or maybe a budget 1/10 scale on under $160 (like the Redcat Ridge-Rock). 1/10 scale is arguably the most popular scale of RC, they're big enough to conquere a lot of obstacles, not too big that you need tons of space to run and wrench on them, while not being too small. I have a 1/14 scale buggy, and a 1/16 scale MT (Monster Truck). One day I'll get a 1/10! There's just more room in a 1/10 so it's easier to work on, but bigger isn't always better, if you check out some wrenching videos of like 1/5, 1/6, and some 1/7 scale rigs, you'll see some guys using a big work stand to put the car on, as maybe it doesn't fit on the workbench or table! 🤣🤣

The good thing with smaller scales is they fit in your backpack, it's not a big pain to carry or travel with them, they are cheaper (and so are all the parts, I can buy a complete set of wheels/4 wheels for one of my cars for the price of two 1/10 scale tires, or less!), lighter weight (so some times less stuff breaks), more nimble, and you need less space to run and work on them! They may not be able to achieve super high speeds as easily or be as stable/capable as bigger cars, and you have more limited space inside though.

I understand the budjet part i get/buy a new rc just about every 3 years about 6 or 7 years ago i got my first rc traxxas slash 2wd still own it today one good sturdy car then about 3 or 4 years ago i got a gift car to my favorite hobby shop near me ( wreckless hobbies ) so me and my dad went in and we bolth bought the 1/18 latrax rally its an okay car
heres why I've put to much money in this car (just fixing it has no mods yet) because it breaks all the time I'm probaly ganna buy the parts for it this weekend i need new diffs, driveshafts, driveline pinions, new servo gears and probaly more parts.
I've already burnt out 2 motors 2 batterys ( this may sound like i overpowered it but i didnt i was using the stock batterys)
I've been looking into drift cars recently but i changed my mind crawlers are cooler and my birthdays may 19 so maybe ill get the crawler heres what i plan to do to it https://docs.google.com/document/d/1CMsYQvLYip6KNlDbxkbFNoaQPoGZn8jL0Z7RmSaIXfU/edit

I have an unofficial personal rule, I'm aiming to buy a new car every year or two, this gives me time to get familiar with a car, tune/tinker with it, upgrade it, ect.

So your dad ad you both have a Latrax Rally each? Are you talking about the Rally here, with all the broken parts?

I've heard crawlers are fun, I think you'll like it! You need to turn the share settings on the Doc to public, right now it's restricted so I can't see it. For people like you and me, I recommend doing thorough research before buying a new car, because since we buy them not very often, you don't want to buy something that you'll regret later!

@The_RC_Dude yep ok I fixed it you can view the doc now and if you have any suggestions comment in the doc
Awesome, I can see it now. Looks good, make sure those servos fit, and that the steering horn with accept the ball screw on the steering link on the axles. I was wondering what the TRX4 "reverse rotation" motor was for, apparently that motor has 30% more power than normal 540 motors (notice how they said a 540, not compared to a 550, which is what it is). Down the road you may want to consider getting a LiPo and a LiPo charger for it (you probably already have one) for longer run times, better punch (yeah, this is a crawler so it'll be less noticeable), more even voltage through the mAh, yada yada yada, you know.

Oh, and the total and cost of the parts and stuff is useful, good touch! I too have a Doc for RC stuff, basically filled with nearly all the parts I could need/want, as well as the stuff I've bought for my rigs, and there's even links to good second hand deals I found. The Doc is 13 pages long and counting! 🤣🤣 I can give you the link if you're interested

Sure just private message the link
Yep it’s useful to have the doc and have the price with what you really need for me is the rear steer because it doesn’t have a good turn radius and then I have what I want radio and reciver motor and that stuff I’m a traxxas guy so I have 5 nimh battery’s and the traxxas dual charger no lipos yet

Yep I understand that’s why when I put mine public I make it view or comment only
I meant that some person would snatch up one of those deals I found. If I were sharing it publicly, I'd probably copy and paste that Doc into a new one, but minus those second-hand-item deals. I spent a fair amount of time sifting through hundreds of listings! Anyway, moving on swiftly!
