So going back to the steel primary gears again? But congrats on the 72MPH. That is by far the fastest nitro Savage out there. Damn that is what, the 3-4 tranny you have shelled out?
 
what caused the damage? Looks like high gear? Too many rpms and maybe a slight imbalance?
 
This is my 3rd BP tranny I've destroyed first one with all metal gears lol. I ran the steel gears after my 71mph, right after I hit 71 the tranny grenaded. So to keep running I robbed a tranny out of Another truck

The savage was not designed to travel this fast at all. So I'm taking parts waaaay beyond there limits and hoping they hold up. This is all trial and error and A lot of fun. The tires have also played a role in this cause there real slicks and when they hook they hook hard. I'm not running a slipper anymore so all the power goes right to the wheels. So if it does slip something might break. Today it was in epic fashion the tranny hehe. Trying to tame ERCM power is harder than one thinks

real cause could be that they are just not made for that speed. i can't imagine what those gears are going through and how fast they are turning at 72mph? all that and no lube to reduce friction.

It grabs 3rd so hard when it shifts it unreal. Before when you used to clearly hear 3rd you could see the truck jolt sideways. Plus I've had to replace the pawl in the 3rd clutch quite a few times already. For now I just need to find a good looong road to run on.
 
Just a suggestion, it might help, try to make a little longer your 2nd gear to shift to 3rd gear so that you had already enough speed when he changed on third, that way the 3rd gear will not take too much impact on the transition from 2nd gear.
 
Yep, I really admire robin for modifying nitro engine. But no offense since this only my hobby I would prefer I do my own modification on the engine and once it has a good result it would be more fulfilling. But some who does not have time or knowledge you can bring it to him, he will make it easy for you. Peaceeeeee...

Lol so true, my tranny could use a tweak on second but IMO it won't matter. I shift into 3rd a little quicker than I would like but that's the nature of the beast. When you start modding clutch pawls you increase your risk of destroying the tranny 10fold. The truth is I have a nasty picco that's starting to mock me cause I can't tame it. IMO this motor is way stronger than my torque picco and that is a beast in its own right.

Good deal, I am guessing you got your transmission back together again. You need a little more room to get that thing to it's top end. Too bad you can get it out on the flightline. You would have the open room there.
