So while bashing my slash it started to smoke the clutch again. I adjusted last and it it was fine. This time I took everything apart and the diff had a really hard spot in it so I took it apart and the diff cover was full of powder. Diff itself spins free and looks good internally. My question is what upgrade should I do for the clutch cuz I'm guessing its smoked

Ever think of trying a center diff? I did that in my stampede 4x4 when I started running 3S.

Traxxas makes one with an aluminum cup/steel gear:

I didn't know about that one, and honestly, kind of glad as I like running plastic spurs if they are up to the task. Quieter, less rotational mass and easier on the pinion.

I tried the plastic version first:

However, under heavy strain, the cup/spur warped, leaked and chewed up my spur. So I got the FastLaneMachine diff cup, rebuilt it and put a new 54T plastic spur on it with 250K in it and it's been running great for over a year. With a slash, you'd likely want to start with a lower weight oil as you likely run smaller/lighter tires. Maybe 100K would suffice.

Center diff helps transfer the load on landing to the tires with less grip, which is what a slipper does. But it still protects the drive train by doing so, while not slipping/melting to pieces on you. Also, make sure to use loctite on the cup screws as with the alloy cup, they like to back out.

I decided to go with the revo clutch upgrade along with aluminum motor plate and mount and aluminum clutch spacer thingy. I finish it all soon and shouldn't have to get into again
