ok so i got a 4 tec 3.3 and I'm killing the tires no matter what suface i drive it on and its killing me ...
i was just wondering if anyone out there is having the same problems or knows the solution to my problem... iv drove the stock tires till the blew... which was about 15 mins then i got some 2 sets of hpi tires and rims and they didnt last 2 minutes so whats the deal with that

The original 4tec with the pro .15 was a pretty gutsy little car. The 3.3 is literally WAY too much motor for the platform. About the only thing you can do to make the tires last longer is accelerate slower.

yeah thats what i herd so i did just that and when it hit second gear the foam blew out of the tires...
i thought maybe that it was because maybe it was a shifty glue job but it was only the rear tires not the front.. then when i tried the hpi i glued the poop out of them and same deal

By the sounds of it, the tires are just expanding from the RPMs. You have a couple options here... You could limit the overall throw of the engine by adjusting the throttle endpoint (I don't remember if the TQ radio had a throttle EPA - I assume not), or by moving the linkage to an inner-hole on the servo arm (on the engine side of it).

Failing that, you can try a gearing change; altho that much power... I don't think gearing will alter much. Since it's all RPM and not torque blasting the tires, you can try going with a smaller pinion/larger spur on the 2nd gear (I'm not sure if they sell that option). This would be the best option, since you won't have to adjust the shift point, and you won't be changing the 1st gears' ratio (assuming you can change the 2nd gear pinion by un-threading it, like on other TC's).

You could also run either a carb restricter or richen the engine way up.

The best overall option would be the gearing, and try super-hard rubber tires. Proline makes some that are solid rubber (I think).

Usually keeping en eye out on the throttle control will reduce tire wear by 90%.
On the radio, the trigger is proportional. If you pull back just a little, it will go slow. The more you pull it back, the faster it will go. A lot of folks thing its an on-off switch. Give it a shot I think it will cure your tire issues.

i understand that pulling the throttle all the way is going to put more power to the wheels faster... but as i accelerate (slowly and reach faster speeds thats when my problem arises. i made that mistake the first set of tires then i eased on the gas and once i got to higher speeds **POOF** tires gone.. but i know what your saying.. i called traxxas and they said use there tires pre-glued and what not and i already went through the ones that it came with the car... I'm pickin up the ones they sent to my LHS today so i guess we'll see how it goes this time..

Anyone think the old strip of duct tape inside the tire will help with the expansion? Sounds like that would help some...
