Has anybody run just 4 stock shocks with thicker oil, instead of all 8, they seem strong enough to hold but I just wanted to know if any of you have done it.

I've NEVER seen a set-up like that before, you'd probably sacrafice a lot of strength in the shocks by doing so, and if so, the weight you save just wouldn't be worth it. Because I've seen people bend the stock ones running 8 w/ too thick of oil....but idk, I'd say go for it and let us know how it is, just be prepared if you do manage to bend some shafts...

I've got one bent on mine right now. Stock oil and don't bash that hard. About a year old. :hammer:

I run with 4 but they are UE's They work just fine..For the stock shocks I would no try it IMO

That is what I thought, What are the stiffest Savage springs out their, cause I was thinking of putting one spring per pair and leaveing the other shock filled w/ oil be with no shocks, kind of like poor mans Power Strokes,

I've seen it alot with Tmaxx's but not really with savages. Why would ya want to run only 4 though? Just curious.

4 shocks would add alot of stress to those 4 shocks cuasing them to leak, bend,or blow out. a thicker oil would indeed blow the shocks out.

What if the 4 shocks are rear 1/8 buggy shocks? Would they be ok? I'm considering MBX-5 rear shocks because they have slightly larger bore compared to other 1/8 buggy shocks (nowhere as big as LST shocks though)

well i did the 4 stock shock set up on pair of twisted toys buggy shock towers and they did okay. nothing great. the truck bottomed out a couple times but no blow outs or bends. ran with 40 weight all around on purple springs. handling was a bit slow in my opinion.

yo doggie you can get 4 ofna ultra lx comp shocks and get a set of 4 white hard springs. works great but you'll need some multi postiton towers like nova towers or something of the magnitude. i love my set up.

I run 8 hot bodies aluminum shocks with only 4 full force triple rate springs. The other 4 just work as dampers. supple ride, but not like the lst shocks... No damage yet.

I run 4 shocks for like an hour and and end up braking the shock mount on the A arm.
not a good idea, for bashing.

4 stock shocks aren't strong enough. four ofna shocks you have to tighten the shock end down when you get them cause they aren't tight from the factory and will yank the shaft out of the shock end. i did it today. in a hurry adn forgot to tighten it down. got plenty o backup. bash it up tomorrow again on my figure 8 with the 5'ft sand pile jump.

i run an ae internal spring with the black springs on the outside with 35 wt. oil . i went to the local bmx part and had a blast.
