Well the Emaxx lives!!

100.00 for truck + 42.00 for new battery packs + 10.00 bux on new connector/heat shrink etc = very happy 3yr old son

I think the packs was a little weak since I charged them about 4 days before we actually got to fix the truck. Now even though they may have been weak, the emaxx did great. The only problem we had was my son kept trying to run us over with it:OMG: You really have to watch your self around him with that thing lol I'll see how he does with some fully charged packs and deside from there if I sould unplug second gear or not. I'm deffenenty going to do some upgrading on this truck starting with an Hummer SUT body. Then a set of GP packs with maybe some wider arms.

It's so nice to have aleast one of these trucks running again.

werd^ Might want to gear it down a lil bit. Cool to introduce him to the hobby though. Post up some pics!

put some foam pipe wrap on the front bumper so he doesn't take out an ankle or anything. i got my 6yr old an evader st waiting on him when he finally gets to come visit.

Well the solder joints went cold on me, so I have to re-soder it tomorrow :( Just don't ask me what I used to solder it with lol

My son's actually a pretty good driver if you can believe that. I actullay wasn't the one who introduced him to RC's, the inlaws was buying him that stuff when he was like 18 months lol. He will be 4 yrs old the first. Anyways, I'll just have to keep him in a field instead of around the house since there really isn't any real room here for us to bash with. Also, I'm modding the truck but nothing really for power out side of a decent set of battery packs. I'm doing stuff like a Hummer body and shocks etc. The only thing I would do to the motors would be to replace them with new Titan 550's. One of them has those littel fin deals broken off where I guess it cools it's self while running?

The only problem I had (besides running me over - LOL) was my 4 year old would run the E-Maxx under our parked cars. I didn't have any poblems with the E-Maxx but I'm building an E-Savage for a little more durablity and hope this can take even more abuse. I still don't know how much you can gear it down. If anyone has an Idea on this please post it.

Ya, I got him a Mini T but it just can't handle the abuse we dish out to it or the terrain we put it on. So I found a decent deal on an Emaxx and went for it. I was going to buy a Stampede but this came up first. Now he can run through the same fields as my Revo and not stuck off to the side watching us. I'm also thinking of making it a wide emaxx...it kinda leans over a little while turning every once and a while. I guess you just install a set of Tmaxx arms?

You can run the E Maxx on one battery to slow it down. Plug a battery to the evx, the side that says traxxas, then take a battery plug with short wires and tie the two wires together and plug it into the other side of the evx. This will give about the same run time with slower more controllable speed for the little ones. This method has been used on crawlers (including one of my own)for a while now so it won't hurt the esc.

How old is the E-Maxx/ If it is only about 2 years old or less it has thenew wide Maxx arms like the new generation T-Maxx. Maxx's lean a bit more than the Revo, hence why the Revo is a better racer out of the box. Get the Proline shocks and the lean most likely will go away.

The arms on this Emaxx are different than both Tmaxx's I got setting around here.

This truck leans real bad...on the street it flips like crazy and some what less on dirt. You pretty much have to stop it before making any turns unless on dirt, then you can sometimes slow down enough to slide without rolling over. I took him out for a few runs with the Emaxx and he did great full throttle. I'll post a video when ever it gets done.

Anyways, in order to make it a wider Emaxx, do I just replace the arms with a set of Tmaxx arms or is there something else I need? I got a set of upper aluminum integy arms ( Tmaxx) I'll trade for a full set of stock Tmaxx arms :)

Thanks
Ray

The earlier T-Maxx was a narrower track, but I have always been under the impressionteh E-Maxx was the wide Maxx arms. Hmmmm. Well, besides arms, you will need axle shafts and shocks. I stil think try new shocks or rebuild the ones you have. Wider will not necessaruly cure a soggy suspension if it is the shocks themselves that are in need of a rebuild.

The first generation Emaxx's were narrow, just as the first-gen Tmaxxs were. You will need a widening kit (let me research the part number for you). If you want to find the partnum yourself, go to ebay and type in 'widemaxx conversion'. You can also try the forum sponsor "RushRC". He sells parts at an amazingly good price.

The kit comes with all four arm-sets, two new shock towers (that open up a lot more adjustment capabilities), longer tie rods, and the screws needed to do the upgrade. Overall, it's a good investment.

edit; the part number is TRA5190. Make sure the kit you get has the two shock towers in it. The ones showing on ebay now are everything BUT the towers. A new-in-package kit has both towers in it, as well as all the parts listed above.

Hey thanks people :hi:

Well going by that list, I've almost got the parts on hand to build a widemaxx. I just need :one set of arms, axle shafts, and the tie rodes w/screws. Anyone got that junk laying around and don't want it, let me know ;) Oh and does anyone know if the emaxx shocks are the same as the Tmaxx, if not do the shock caps fit atleast?

Thanks again

I just bought a used E-Maxx for my wife, and I am curious, how do I know if it is a Wide-Maxx, or pre-wide-maxx. are there some measurements to compare to or certain parts that are only on one or the other? thanks

If you got a Tmaxx laying around you can compare the arms on it to the Emaxx. They look a little different, the small hole next to the shock holes on the upper arm as a small open space hole. The emaxx is open while the Tmaxx has a small divider/webbibg bar. Just look them up on ebay under widemaxx to compare your wife's truck to a Tmaxx arm.

Hope it helps or someone can chime in with some measurements.

Well he does ok until he finds some mud around him:OMG: He had that Emaxx knee deep in mud yesterday...I guess I should had told him to head for the mud instead of staying away from it lol It was to bad I didn't have anything to film that trip with ;) Anyways, heres a link and hope it works.
