Surprised I haven't seen discussions here or maybe I'm just missing it.

Looks like Traxxas is updating the line.

Anyone know how local clubs are handling this for Spec Slash racing?

I imagine this will hit the Oval models too.

I'm assuming the XL5 and BL2s are or soon will be discontinued.

The motors aren't different enough to matter. The new VX3 motor is 3200kV with a slightly longer can, the old BL-2S has a slightly shorter stature and is 3300kV. For racing on 2S, the difference between the new and old will be negligible, if noticeable at all.

Was wondering on the spec classes since this is an LCG chassis gearing changes and new shocks etc.

I've been toying around with setting up parking lot racing in my area as a non profit. Getting kids into the hobby and looking at the BL2s and probably the Fury.

I love the idea of the slash kit and getting kids building so they have an understanding of how things work. I've done this with my son and want to give back to my community (and also get into a bit of racing 😇).

If you hear of any talk about incorporating these newer models let me know. Otherwise probably just lump em all in together and have fun.

This is the way for SCT parking lot racing.

My HobbyTown parking lot rules for SCT are fairly loose. I'm not discounting any drivers but, if I'm being honest, the trucks with the most motor, typically fair the worst. Just this past weekend, I took 3rd in the a-main running a clapped out, rusty Slash from 2010 with an XL-5 and stock Titan motor. The running gear is honestly not that important because there is a lot of crashing and bashing in SCT parking lot classes. It is just as much about survival as it is clicking off smooth laps. That's what makes it so much fun lol.

Chassis:
Any 2WD SCT chassis or 4WD SCT chassis with center shaft removed
Any chassis/suspension upgrades are allowed

Gearing:
FDR of 10.0 or higher (I would omit this rule for a new club. Adds too much confusion and stress around "sticking to the rules")

Electronics:
2S Lipo only
Brushed 550 12T or higher
Brushless: 4000kv max or 13.5 max

Wheels/Tires:
Any spec production SCT tire (what comes on the trucks stock)
No traction compound
