  1. Bashing
1. So I have a s maxx as I'm sure many know (2.5 motor) just wondering if the 3.3 motor in my jato will drop right in without changin clutch bell or if I need to swap that when I do it. Jato needs more parts than I can get right now to make it right, so just wanna run the maxx for now with the bigger motor and hope drivetrain doesn't break too soon lol.

2. Also the jatos slipper clutch looks like a nicer one can I move that to the maxx as well or should I stick with what its got and tighten it down all the way

3. And last one should I run the resonator pipe on it or the 2.5 pipe (from what I understand res. pipes for top end, but I figured 2.5 pipe might choke the 3.3)

Thanks ahead of time as always

PS what ever happened to the amazing 1/6 hummer build rolex was doing I was reading it today and it looked phenominal but never found completed pics with the lighting either way that guys got my immediate respect in this hobby and that's an impressive truck as are his others I've seen true they never come off the shelf tho? Lol

It will drop in, but will require the CB to be changed.

I don't believe the slipper/spur on the jato will work for you on the max. They do make a conversion for the old maxx though for a better slipper: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXSGN1&P=7

A better pipe will serve you better. Your right, the stock plastic pipe will choke the engine. Hell, it was bad on the 2.5 as it was!

Awesome thanks for the quick reply this will be first time I've pulled a clutch bell anything I should know before hand? Also u seem to be the local expert on these when I got the jato it had no wheelie bar is that what holds the a arm pins in the rear in I ran it today and the left dropped out and luckily nothing bent or broke when the arm kicked out (gotta a cop to radar it tho 59mph running a lil rich then ran outta room! Def fast like I was lookin for lol) so imma pick those up tonight and swap the motors since the jato needs a strip down and cleanin since old owner obviously did know how to and I want more outta the s maxx for now thanks again

Side note for anyone with a moto droid what's best program for loadin pics on here from phone I got my lid painted n wanted to get pics up thanks

The jato runs a battery box on the back, which is held on via a bolt or two that goes through the back of the diff case and into the battery box. The battery box is what keeps the pins in. If I remember correctly, the bolts in stock form go through the battery box and thread into the case. but they strip easily. I used button head bolts from the inside of the diff case and put nuts on the ends of the bolts int he battery box. But I could be wrong... been a while since I've been in there. I do know that the battery box is what keeps the pins from falling out.

I have an old 2.5 jato with a 2.5R in it now. I gear pretty low because where I run I don't have much space. I also run 17mm hubs with old school truggy tires on it. Buggy wheels with higher/wider tires on them. Hard to find the tires now... but I like that it adds ground clearance for grass running.

Be careful with big air in the jato and top side landings. You will bust crank cases. I'm on case #5... lol
4 of which were due to slapping the ground hard from 4+ feet of air under it. Those little ears on the engine just can't take the stress and crack the crankcase. Here's my thread about it: https://www.rcnitrotalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=75027&highlight=jato

Cool I appreciate it again def saw what ur talkin bout on the crankcase and tires I've been readin all ur threads all day and I think I'm pretty up to speed could u send me the link where u found the shock tower supports by chance I saw it in one thread but couldn't find it again.

The 3.3s comin out tho n goin on my smaxx as the 2.5 just finished its 6th gallon so not much left to it and the jato needs a cleanin and some parts so I'm strippin both trucks completely to polish em up don't think I can clean em to rolex status tho lol those are some stunning pieces (think they qualify as art? Lol) and if all goes well tomorro ill be gettin a built savage flux to finish the collection with 6s lipos comin with it here's to hopin it goes thru

One last question before I'm set tho the power switch on the jato doesn't do anything once the batteries plugged in the servos have power wether switch is on or not anyone seen that and is it okay or should I look at replacing it?thanks again for everything

Get that switch replaced. It could start doing the opposite at anytime, which could lead to a runaway. Either replace it, or remove it completely.

Ok cool thanks it'll be gettin it stripped tonight and tomorrow to swap motors so ill just remove it then I think this car would be scrap if a runaway happened lol don't want that

On a side note should be gettin the savage flux tonight and my collection will be complete for now :D:D:D I feel like a kid at christmas two new rcs in one week lol so ill be buggin yal over there on that forum lol thanks for all the quick answers guys!

Don't chuck that 2.5, it should be eligible for the Traxxas exchange program. You could upgrade and get another 3.3 to have as a spare.

Yea it'll go in the jato for now it still runs it just shuts off if it flips or u don't keep givin it gas I'm still runnin it every day I got back into this hobby full time lol luckily my girlfriend of 6 years loves that I do it and doesn't mind one bit lol but I gotta fix my mazda before rc stuff unless I'm tradin for it which is how I got the new ones this week but I'm gonna drop the dynamite .19t in the jato when I can get one then swap the 2.5 for 3.3 just to have as backup just time and money thankfully the guys here have been awesome with all the help they've given me which kept me hooked on nitro at first and kept my costs down so lookin forward to new engines hopefully soon and the last truck I want which is a revo since I'm gettin the savage tonight so thnks again everyone!
