Ok here it goes. I have a XXX-nt and i just got done retunig my carb settings since i got confused. Ok but neways i jst got done running it hard for like 10 minutes and the temp was 240 then when i checked it like when it died it was 260 from being a little bit leaner from running out of fuel......Is this a good tempeture.......

But also when i go and let it idle for a couple seconds and then try to floor it it kinda sputters and then taks off like a rocket....Do you think its still a little lean on the LS needle

240 is a tad bit cool for most engines but if its runnin good then its ok...on the LS problem id say rich but I'm not one of the experts

So any other opions..............I just want a secone refrecce

I think the LSN could be a little richer too.

And 240 is a pretty good temp I thisnk since its what I try to keep my 2.5 at.

Ok ill have to try that so you think that is a good tempeture

all of my engines like to run real good at around 220-250...for me it seems any hotter than 250 and the engines seems to lose power. as for the low end needle, i always set it so that the engine will idle for 10 seconds and if i mash the throttle a big puff of smoke comes out, but the engine jsut barely stutters, then accelrates smoothly. rght now it sounds as though your low speed needle is too rich.

I agree with alkyula. It sounds like your a bit rich on the low. What engine are you running? The mach .15? You should be good with the temps your running. Above 210 and below 260 is a good range to be in.

if the truck is running good then it's a fine temp. all temps vary with all the changes in ambient temp, altitude, etc

better to run hot then cold. always try to get an engine run above 220. below it is to cold.

but remember dont tune the valves for temps. tune them so your cars runs good then check the temp. if ya car runs good your temp wil mostly be above 220.

Yes, they have pointed out the good temps. When you tune your car... it's easiest to get the HSN set, then go back and set the LSN for snappy accelleration... you can get a nice ballance between it being snappy and not dying at idle. You should be just fine. Once you get a nice ballance, you should be in the temp range noted above... I wouldn't worry too bad till you are 275ish... the temps will go up a tad as the tank empties anyway because of air in the line and it leans out a little as it cycles through air bubbles and the such.
