OK guys, I did a few searches, & it just confused the hell out of me... lol
I was running a GA 3 shoe clutch setup, with 23tcb & RRP 72t spur. It was a 1/10th scale setup basically. After melting the shoes, scarring the flywheel & tearing up the spring...... I decided to step it up a notch to an 1/8th scale setup...
I'm running a Hyper 8 port.

My question is... If I get the RRP steel 65t spur & Ofna 3 shoe clutch setup, what size cb should I run for a happy medium of speed & torque? Note, it will be an 1/8th scale cb... Probably an Ofna.
The diffs are upgraded, but still standard gearing, no ultralites as of yet...
Any insight is greatly appreciated...

An 1/8 scale cb won't mesh with a 1/10 scale spur, different tooth pitch. You need to upgrade both the cb and spur. Unless RRP came out with a 1/8 pitch spur that I'm unaware of. In doing so, you also need to upgrade to a 1/8 flywheel and clutch shoes.

I know RC-Solutions makes a 1/8 spur for the maxx and they give you recommendations on what 1/8 CB to run with it. Check out their site for info.

I do know what I bought for my savage meshes fine with the 1/8 maxx spur from RC-solutions. If you need a parts list, I can pull it off my history from tower and give you the links for the CB, flywheel and shoes.

I never used the RC-Solutions gear, it was sent to me to try out, but I never did. It sat on a shelf, then I tore my 21 maxx apart about 2 weeks after I received it and used the engine on the roller savage I got from SkyMaxx. I gave the gear to another member who has a 21 maxx, but he hasn't needed to use it yet.

Thanks olds... I wasn't aware of the pitch difference.. I'll probably just go with the strobe setup... I'll also get in touch with scottm from RC-Solutions..
Thanks again..

Personally, I'd go the 1/8 clutch route vs 1/10. Your running a 21 engine with 21 torque and your trying to get the power to the ground with a clutch that has half if not less contact area. Save the headache now and convert to 1/8 clutch and the RC solutions spur. After you burn up 3 aluminum clutches, a couple 4 shoe, a couple stock just to be sure, you would be glad that you changed to something to handle the HP your throwing at it.

I didn't have much problem running the OS 21 RG with the MIP clutch shoes. But that engine is low on the HP scale (1.8 i think). Then I installed a new engine when that one blew up. All was fine until I got to about a gallon, then I was just burning the clutches out. Both the slipper and the CB. The new engine I put in was an Omega 21 Comp which is rated at 2.5hp. It's now in my savage pulling wheelies all day long.
