2014 PC Build - Pic Heavy

hay guys does any one have 4-5 " of anti-static foam? my son bought me a sunfounder arduino kit and i dont want to pull the I,C.s from the breadboard till i have some foam. can i post my phone no here?
 
I dont have any foam. I have some anti static bags like hard drives or motherboards come in but no faom. I just throw stuff like ICs in a plastic parts bin. If you want to be extra cautious about start electricity then just where a PC grounding strap while handling them. In reality though you really dont need to do anything more than touch something metal before you start handling the chips. By touching something metal first you release any potential static electricity that may have been building up.
 
New pics. Finally making some headway on this build that should have been done a long time ago but life...I couldnt fit all the switches on a single 5.25in drive bay cover so I relocated some of them to them to the front I/O panel.

Stock Corsair 900D front panel.

Front panel modded with aftermarket power switch, small on/off switch for rear I/O panel LEDs, small on/off switch for the LED dragon on the front fan cover, and white HDD activity LED relocated to the left of the headphone I/O jacks.

At the moment I've got a few upgrades planned for my build:
-Corsair Obsidian 750D
-NZXT Sentry 2
-Corsair RM 750 (CX 750M too noisy for me...I'm fussy)
-Samsung 840 Evo 256GB
-HD 7990 or a GTX 970, whichever I can get cheapest.
-New Rear exhaust fan-Cougar Vortex PWM
Should do me for a while once finished...

I didn't know you were into pc's, you've got a nice build :)
I'll have to get some pictures of my rig once I get my replacement 560ti sli (Soon to be GTX 970 or HD 7990)

Go with the nVidia GTX970. It has lower power consumption and has better specs than the AMD cards. I have the 256GB 850 Evo and got it for about $100 which was the same price as the 840 Evo.

Some nice pieces and I second the GTX970 :) The 970 benchmarks at around 8600 and the 7990 only benchmarks at about 5500. Plus the 970 has an extra 1/2GB of RAM

In most cases, the HD 7990 does outperform a 970, but they are hot and noisy and outdated. At the minute I can get a 7990 cheaper than the 970s in the UK, and as for ssds, I have a voucher for a website that doesn't sell 850's.

On the benchmarks I found, the 7990 slightly outperformed The 970 in just raw computing power. Although I would rather get a 970 because of noise and power consumption- plus I prefer nvidia :p trouble is, in the UK, the cheapest 970 is £200- for a pathetic looking zotac one- but I do love their 980-looks real nice. 7990's are around £190, but are outdated and noisy.... I'm waiting for prices to drop before I get one.

Or I could sue nvidia for false advertising the amount of memory :p

I recently ordered an even classified 560ti 2win, it's two 560tis in sli (performs 30% better than a 580 (660)) and they sent me the wrong one,but before

I would strongly recommend a GTX 970 over a HD 7990 for a number of reasons. First, a GTX 970 is slightly slower than a HD 7990, but you have to rely on the HD 7990 properly scaling in CrossFireX in order for a HD 7990 to beat the GTX 970 (not to mention AMD isnt exactly known for having great drivers). Second, the GTX 970 consumes 2.5x less power than a HD 7990, which enables you to get a second GTX 970 without having to worry about upgrading your PSU. Third, a GTX 970 has DirectX 12 support and more memory, which makes it arguably more future proof, and has in house downsampling, which gives it a consistently better image quality. Lastly, the HD 7990 is a discontinued product. All that being said I believe you can get a used 7990 for about $100 bucks less than a new 970. Used 970s are probably scarce at the moment. Just my .02

I am with you very much, the 7990 would be my second choice- it's just an option.
 
That is a beast of a gaming machine you built, I just upgraded to the 970 card so my son could play his games on higher settings and then he had me keep the gtx 650 in there and has it just processing the phys-x, now my son is trying to get me to upgrade the processor and motherboard, sometimes i wonder if it will ever be fast enough for him, lol!

You can never, ever, have the ultimate setup for more than a year. In 5 years time a gtx 980 will be £60...and the new flagship will be the Pascal XXX mega Titan XXX Ti X with 999999 Cuda Cores and 43GB of memory :P

Be careful of your matter/antimatter intermix in the dilithium chamber or you could cause a wormhole that takes you back in time to when dinosaurs roamed the earth and @Rolex was a young man....
