ok so after rebuilding my 2 speed what seems like millions of times. i lift it up today after re assembly, and give it some throttle. at least this time i could see where the gears strip. and this is what happens

runs through first gear fine, as soon as it shifts into second gear, teeth start flying, second gear strips, then first gear also strips. and this happens EXACTLY at the shift. anyone know whats wrong ? this is on an HPI supernitro 2 speed,. about the same tranny as anything else. any help would be great

Sounds like a mesh problem, have you checked the one-way bearings on your two-speed, are they loose and wobbly~? Maybe you clutchbell~? Hard to say, when you move things by hand does it bind anywhere~? Good luck.

there is/was no binding, the mesh was lined up good. the gears to wiggle a bit though , i just dont know how to fix it. what part do i need to fix that ?

How long have you had your two speed, you can just buy the one-bearing for it. Good luck.

:juggle: have you tweaked your chassie in a crash and tried to straighten it?could be a weak chassie flexing when the torque is applied from the shift, that will throw your mesh off and strip gears!

nah , havent crashed the car or bent the chassis, the trans is about a year old, maybe that is why. i may have a screw loose in my upper brace , but its never been a problem before, so i dont know. what is the part that i need for the trans ?

there is the link to all the parts in the tranny (at the bottom). can you tell me what you think i need to replace ? Thanks

I was looking at my two speed, and it's hard to say, because the one-way bearing is for the first gear, so you would be breaking those teeth first. but you say it's your 2nd gear teeth that are breaking first. If it is the one-way bearing then it's the purple piece in this picture and it's this part number

Good luck

yeah , thats exactly what i was thinking of replacing. the only thing that might have me think its the chassis shifting now is that it happend EXACTLY when it shifted, so maybe it is being torqued a little out of place. so i think i will order the adapter, and then i will also get the graphite chassis brace and the aluminum gear brace that I've wanted to get for a while...
