So,I bashed the hell outta the Tmaxx yesterday. I noticed towards the end of the day I had a high pitched "squeal" going on in there somewhere. After a quick investigation, I had stripped a spur. But it sounded more internal. So, took the tranny off and here's where my fun began. I got all of the hex screws out to seperate the halves except one. It's stripped in good shape. Any ideas how I can get this thing out? I have foc installed and I noticed a little binding when I spun the drive shaft by hand. I inspected the brakes and made a slight adjustment on them. They seemed to be grabbing and binding just a bit. I want to scope out the interior of my tranny, but I can't get this screw out....help!!! Thanx in advance.

Anyone? I'm thinking maybe purchasing a dremel. I'm sure this will help. Anyone have one? I hear they are quite handy for the hobbyist. Help me out guys...:D

a dremel or any rotary tool is always a good thing to have in this hobby ...its money well spent ....i have a cheap ''jobmate'' rotary tool ..paid 9$ for it ...does the job ;)...........you could probably make a slot in your screw head with a small cutting disc...then try to take the screw out with a flat head screwdriver

Cool, thanx for the help. I'll give that a try. I'll be buying one of those dremels. Sounds like a "must have". Thanx again...

I have a B&D version that I picked up at a box store for around $30. Not totally variable, but is 3 speed. I pretty much only use low speed. Had a multi-speed dremel, but it goes from off to full on. Lasted a few years, but something in it is fried. I think I actually threw it away a while back.

Anyway, what screw? You may be able to drill the head off if your careful, then pull the parts apart and take the stub out with a pair of side cutters or vice grips.

Thanx olds....there's like 6-7 screws that hold the tranny halves together. I can get all of them except one. It's giving me a real hard time. I have the tranny in my hands and I spin the shaft and there a slight bit of binding going on there. Shouldn't be anything too bad as I have foc installed. Could it be my breaks binding? Like I said, I heard a real high pitched squeal. I stripped a spur but I really don't think that's the prob. Seems to me I may have a gear in the tranny that's stripped. I gotta get this screw out!!! Thanx for the responses guys.
