Well Last night I just got a Traxxas Tmaxx 2.5 thats only about a month old and was kept in great condition. The only thing was the engine was out of tune, so I go onto traxxas's website to find factory settings and I come across this:

A new benefit to the Lifetime Engine Replacement Plan is that TRX 2.5 engines are automatically upgraded to the TRX 2.5R Racing Engine for no additional cost. The TRX 2.5R engines include the beautiful blue-anodized machined aluminum cooling head ($40 value!) and the special porting, at no additional charge. The TRX 2.5R Racing Engine is a direct replacement for the TRX 2.5 Racing Engine.

Does this mean I can get a brand new engine for nothing? or what?
Thanks
Zachary

From the website-"allows you to exchange your worn out, burned up, or used up Traxxas TRX® Pro.15, TRX 2.5, or TRX 2.5R Racing Engine for a brand new TRX 2.5R or TRX 3.3 Racing Engine at 50% off of the current retail price of the new engine"

And I see where you found your quote and I think it means that if you want the 2.5r you get it for the same price as the 2.5.

Sent in my .15 PRO a couple years ago and got the 2.5r when it first came out for half the price. One of the best deals out there.

Just be careful because sometimes its not such a good deal. For example, I think if you want to change in 2.5 engine for a 3.3, it costs $120. You can buy a brand new 3.3 from tower hobbies for $140 or $145, and you still have the old engine that you can resell or keep for a spare. You can get a new 3.3 on ebay for $100 bucks, so if you're on a budget there might be better ways to go about getting an engine. You also need to keep in mind that the 2.5R is supposedly a lot harder to keep a tune than the regualr 2.5, and for what the exchange would cost you might could get a really nice OS engine. I was going to use the Traxxas ERP to get a 3.3 until I did my research and realized it wasn't such a good deal for me. I'm not telling you that it's a bad idea because I dont know how much they want for the 2.5, but if I was you I would consider keeping your engine and maybe sending it to ABMods or something like that instead of getting the 2.5R from traxxas with the ERP.

What about a 3.3 for a new 3.3? I know it says 2.5 to 2.5 and 2.5 to 3.3 but mentions nothing about 3.3 to 3.3.

I was wondering about that myself. If I had to guess I would say they probably want around 100 bucks, but that's just a guess based on the other ones, there is no fact base to that estimate.

Any TRX engine for a new TRX 3.3 with pull start $110.00 + $5.00 shipping = $115.00 + insurance on shipping

$85.00 + $5.00 = $90.00 + insurance on shipping for a TRX 2.5R
(trading a 1.5,2.5,2.5R for a 2.5R)

insure package for $199.00

to save on shipping and insurance take it to your participating Traxxas dealer(Local Hobby Shop) then extra no charge $110.00 or $85.00

check the site so you know what to send/take and what to keep

I think they lowered the pricing because I thhought it was closer to $150.00 for the 3.3 before.

Okay well I just called Traxxas and they just said told me that what it is, is when you use the ERP and send a 2.5 you get the 2.5R for no addtional price.
