Ok i am totally screwed i think its about 12 degrees out and goign to be cold for a while and i was wondering for the smarter techs here if i were to start my enginge indoors let it warm up and brought it into the cold could i break it in that way or what would be the best method or is there a way i could do it in my garage cause i have a 5 car garage heated and vented that i could do a stand breakin if someone wanted to post steps on going about that safetly with the trx 2.5

This may sound stupid, but if you have a 5 car garage, then it sounds like you would enough run space to break it in indoors if you pulled all the cars out. It only takes about 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes to do all 5 steps. If the garage is not well ventilated or the temp is below, let's say 60, you might not be able to do it successfully, but there are other tricks such as wrapping the head (se search feature) or using a blow dryer.

THe problem with starting it indoors than bringing it outdoors is the change in ambient temperature. The air it dense when it is cold and tends to cause a lean setting. The common thing for someone to do is to lean it since it is colder. " I can get it to run hotter since it is colder". WRONG. If you are not that inclined to tuning it again. Try the sock method around the head. Let us know your plans.

You could try breaking in the engine inside your garage if its warm but I would advise you to wait till its warmer out. Breaking in that engine in the cold will leave you with tuning problems when you run it in the summer. People have discovered this in the traxxas revo forum. It's supposed to be fine but it just doesn't turn out that way. But if you don't mind or you want to have that piston and sleeve just for winter then you have nothing to worry about.

Yea I'm in the same boat there.. i just got a revo and its like 30 out side but the weather next week should be in the mid to uper 40's is that still to cold also?

Theoretically you can break-in your engine at any temp. as long as you follow the traxxas break-in and have the engine at the temps they require. But it would suck to have your engine broken-in properly but have weird tuning issues in the summer. So you could do it and it should be fine but just to be safe I'd wait just a little longer.

this is a bit worrying.....

i broke my tmaxx in, in cold weather ( i think it was about 6-7degrees celcius).

am i going to get tuning issues in the summer?

Yep, but look at the little handy Traxxas manual and it tells you which way to lean or richen the carb for different conditions. There is a little chart in there.

ahhh

when you say issues....do you mean for slight differences in temp, humidity..etc..I'm going to have to make slight adjustments? ( as it says in the manual?)

you usually have to slightly adjust the needles anyway for different temps, humidity, altitude etc so its not really a big problem

the 2.5 is a finicky lil mill anyway...most people won't even get 4 gallons from them (I did say most, so please no posting telling me I'm wrong and you got 20 gallons running it at 300).....break-it in, in the garage and run it til it pukes...then you havfe a good reason to get the OS for it :D
