well 1st glad 2 meet some fella RCNTers there (corrado and psunitro). more on them later.

practice was uneventful. just tryin 2 figure out their whole system of runnin things, when 2 check in, order running etc. ran very lil (no choice really)

1 brutally tricky jump. i had issues w/it all day. needed more practice a track day 2 learn the place, never saw it b4.

1 heat, the SUT (which i still had very rich comin outta the break-in phase slow) loaded up on the line and died. took over 1min 2 get it back fired. got out there and made 7 laps (TQ was 10). so not that bad. lap times werent great, but they 4 most part werent horrible. i'm still just too rusty. my home track w/lack of jumps and b'g more open is much easier 2 get used to (also we're talkin buggy vs monster). i was very rich, felt even moreso than the breif practice, and it showed in punch.

2 heat, they arrived and we got the car much better outside between heats. got some help from Rado on these radios and all their extra adjs than anythin i had in the 80s, early 90s. made it much better. leaning out the bottom end on a quick tune session outside was good and it paid off. except 4 comin 2 the jumps and it gettin up quicker threw me off some. managed thru a push condition during the heat. cheap RTR shock tower bent in the rear. there again another victim of the cheap GS parts. did 9 laps, almost got 10. went back and stuck another spacer in the rear shocks. PSU temped the truck at 220 at the end of the heat (yeh!). felt some clickin again and thought it might b the knuckle bolts b'g 2 close 2 the universal (i had already put 1 washer top and bottom on there, they come w/NO washers). 'Rado thought it was sticky brakes. well...

3 heat, goin out warmed up ok, was feelin much snappier even over heat 2, no adjs. but i stopped over at the guys while they topped me off and i turned and saw the inside wheel lock. well 3 heat was over. pulled it all apart. needed 1 more washer on top, bottoms were fine. 1 setscrew in a universal was a lil loose 4 my taste and threads looked bare. so 1 more washer a side and loctite everywhere got ready 4 main.

sure was gettin cold, even indoors, they opened the vent door even more and it was really cold over at the start area. i did make the A feature (10 trucks on this track was goin 2 b very interestin...its too tight). qual'd #8, not that i care really.....and well...

...i didnt drive well, quite a few mistakes, some b/c of engine runnin better and having more power and snap (but yes this thing needs mugen 1.1 springs and better shoes, stockers are blah as every1 has said), some just plain mistakes, and others were at the hands of havin 10 trucks on the track and some who dont wanna wait 4 turn marshalls to climb over the tubing 2 get where they need 2 go in front of u. finished 6th (top 5 was a lofty sorta-goal). only managed 8 laps (almost 9) in all the carnage. temp'd out at high 230s after finish.

but thru all that the truck is runnin better, more solid. 'Rado wants me 2 take that 2nd servo saver (the 1 on the servo) off b/c i have the pipe saver, idk. the tune is much better. granted i was still b'g conservative on this 1gal old motor. needs just a lil idle work w/the tune now, no biggie. setup is lil better, but i know y when i put it 2gether like i wanted y it wasn't workin as well as it could...hey 'Rado!!, 1 4got i dont have a rear bar 4 this yet lol. the rear brake thing didnt work, i'm too much of a traditionalist, brake than turn, it locked up 2 much 4 my liking. worth a try.

this track bumps n jumps is REALLY tight, and the 1 jump is quite tough 4 a monster (no sweat 4 a stadium or a 1/10 buggy) just gonna slow down and deal w/it next time i go. whenever that is, gonna take a break 4 a bit. i was the 1st non Revo to finish. (7 revos, my SUT, 1 MGT, 1 Maxx).

how the heck their gonna try and run 1/8th buggies there jan 9th is beyond me, they said their gonna make layout adjs. but i dont see it things goin well. but their tryin it. 10 monsters was crazy enuff, same w/10 mod buggies. i wont get involved in that.

it was a good time, great 2 meet you 2 and thx 4 all ur help and pitwork. made the day that much more fun.

now on 2 replace another cheap GS part (towers), go over car, fix my 4way wrench, purchase a rear bar, debate servo saver removal, amongst other things. a good time indeed, can't say it enuff, good 2 b back, but doin it 4 fun.

Hey thats what we are here for! I we arnt racing we'll do pit duties. Yeah 10 MTs at a shot was too much,I was hugging the door for fresh air. They said they are putting in more fans for the 9th,but we better bring some gloves and a hat! Get that Hyper in order and come on up. We can do a RCNT GTG there.

I thought you were doing well considering its a new truck and your just really learning the dynamics of it.

I have never seen so many Revos at one place!!

Man, that's what I hate about Bumps and Jumps. They don't have the pit crew hold your Nitros in the air before starting. I notice they do the same thing at pit stop. It highly highly anoys me. When your engine is cold, it's gonna load up and die after 10-15 seconds of idling on the line. The proper way to do it is for the track owner to instruct the pit crew to hold the nitros in the air. Then the drivers clean out the carbs with little blips on the throttle. Then just seconds before the start, your pit guy drops you on the track.

I talked to Chris about it and he doesn't care if you have someone hold your nitro in the air, but he doesn't make it a rule. The result is that everyone leans out their bottom end and a lot of them end up running lean after they warm up (at least sounds that way to me ear). Actually, Chris's solution was that he plans on making a starting gate. It's a year later and no starting gate. Also starting gates suck cause they make pile ups on the first turn.

Anyway, I'll stop my bitching. :) I'm glad to see three RCNT guys in this area racing Nitro. UltegraSTI, psunitro and corrado, are you guys gonna race at Pit Stop again next summer? I drive two hours to race at Hobby Hut in Philly, but I could easily make it out to the Harrisburgh / Hershey area (even a little closer for me). We all race 8th scale too right?

nice to meet you too ultegra. youll get that SUT sorted out shortly I'm sure. too bad about the rear brake trick. i saw a few places it could have helped. ill have my truggy at B&J soon enough.

big freak. yes PSU and i will be running at Pit Stop again this comming summer. we will both be running 8ths for sure, and throwing our truggies in a few times for good measure. see you there i guess.

CorradoPsi, did you ever get my private message? on this site, it's easy to miss. at the top where it shows what forum your in, to the right of that it will say "welcome" and then it shows if you have anything in your inbox.

I was talkin to the guys I run with. They don't seem to be too thrilled with that buggy race down there in Jan. He wants you to run slicks? (so you don't tear up the track or something) Sounds kinda silly to me.

From what I see, most of the guys run slicks, but not all. I'm not running slicks. I wont waste a set of tires. I'll cut down my RTR tires or a used set of Dirty Harry's.

They were using a starting gate for the main in MT,HUGE cluster in the start. I just hope they change the layout for the 1/8ths. And maybe some REAL fans.

Maybe we can all go up to Hobby Hut one weekend .

never heard of the other place, somethin 2 look into. granted this place is new and their doin what they can, i was impressed w/the place overall, yes the course was small, but what u gonna do. they had a long piece of plywood on hinges that was dropped manually on starter's instructions, the trucks would sit on a concrete patch and bump up against it rev'g 2 keep it cleaned out somewhat. 10 monsters on that track is too crazy. 10 buggies yeash.

yes the truck will get sorted, that race was a test of a few things essentially. and i'll need more time w/it now. although i would like 2 see a dirt oval race there.

Freak, yeah i got one like 2 weeks ago. if thats the one your talking about. your idea about hitting pit stop when the weather breaks is good.

as for slicks at B&J i wont run them either. ill just order a mini-pin type tire and run that. no sense in making up slicks for just one race to see if we like the place.

You mean those 9 $10 cheapo walmart reject fans all screwed together are actually getting the smoke out?? LOL I knew that was going to be a problem. In the summer he had the big 20 foot tall bay door open and the smoke still didn't clear.

That would be cool. On any given sunday, you can expect 50-70 1/8th scale buggies down there (20 or so MT and truggies too). It's a little more expensive though. Instead of $12 to race it's $15. $10 for an additional class and $5 for kids in the junior class. Also they don't even have any job jonnys. If you gotta piss it's out back behind the little red shed and if you gotta crap you better beat feet 2-3 blocks back to the McDonalds.
It's a nice track though (huge huge huge).

hmm, I've heard the hobby hut track was nice. didnt expect that many racers though honestly. sounds like some good fun. do they have payouts for class winners though. pit stop does this, and B&J does not. i can understand that Chris is trying to get his track established and all, and he has bills. but even giving half of the entrance fee back to the class winners would be a bit of encouragement. if you win your class at pit stop you get your fee back. pretty cool way to reward the good drivers if you ask me.

wow, their gonna race day after xmas. hmm, i got the Pro towers, thinkin bout it idk.

i can't make that one, stupid cousin has a wedding reception that day. its not my fault she had the wedding in some bumble f*ck mid-west town. why do i have to go to the local reception?

oh, and did you pick up a full set of springs yet? id recommend some ofna or kyosho mediums since its a high bite track.

negative on springs. either i'll put stockers on front and rear or i'll keep the setup i have now 4 now. it needs a rear bar. but i'll hold on that since its runable now. towers, a new TRS (old 1 lost in the main), failsafe comin out (dont see the pt other than more clutter in the radio box). i dont know bout the servo saver delete or servo change 4 right now. will take some rear brake out though, might go after a lil more front brake. tryin 2 keep it status quo 4 now, lil subtle changes til i can get more track time w/it. i'll peck away at the revos lil by lil. not really much opportunity 2 pass there, so its gettin a base setup, then makin laps mistake-free if a lil slow.

-Ult

gotcha on the setup. though i still say the 2 servo savers is overkill. its too much room for play and can make the steering feel inconsistant and spongy. as for passing the best place i spotted was in the air, tail the guy till you come up to the jumps in the middle, and either triple the first set, or do 2 doubles over the second set. its a fast but risky line, lots of practice required obviously.

I honestly don't know if Hobby Hut does cash pay outs. I've never got that far. LOL You might think I'm full of it when I say 50-70 buggies. Here are the race results for one of the weekends:

http://www.hobbyhut.com/newsdesk_info.php?newsPath=9&newsdesk_id=18

(51 buggies and 16 MT/truggies)

I donno if they give cash payouts or not. They can afford it for sure. Last summer I got a free T-shirt (everyone got one).

wow... just found this thread. B&J's is about 4-5mi from my house... which is what prompted me to pick up a used RC10GT from a friend.. with the intentions of trying to race over there one of these days. Also how I found this site. Any of you guys running the GT's or are you guys all Losi pilots? I could use some pointers.. hehe

nope we all run buggies (which their gonna have a buggy race there jan 9th 4 1st time, really tight 4 buggies, but their gonna try it) or monsters (i run a SUT).

its a good time 4 sure. best thing i can say is since ur car is used. get the manual out, nice work area, and strip the car down complete and rebuild it back up so u know its straight. all new fluids, replace worn parts etc, new fuel line filters etc. then go there on a practice nite and put the laps in, use 1st couple tanks 2 tune the motor in right, then just make laps nice and slow. then pick up the spd very lil by lil, by section. its painful 2 go thru but its the right way. u'll be up 2 good lap times within ur 2nd day of this. yes 2nd 'day'. no rush, its practice. dont need 2 practice crashing and breakin parts. then run in the novice class 2 start out.

you talking 1/8 buggies? They seem a bit large for that place.. I watched them run out at Trains & Lanes (near Nazareth)... they sure move out. I haven't raced anything in 10+ years...kids do that to ya... so this is like starting fresh for me, again.

Hey SS, you going to be out there this Sunday? Corradopsi(Chris) and I may be out there,if not this Sunday,on the 9th.
