Hi folks!

I received a gift today, the RC car I played with when I was wee. Unfortunately the original box and manual is long gone.

I'm Looking for help to find parts for a Tamiya 1999 ford focus, Monte Carlo replica of Colin Macrea's car. Any info of a website to order from would be great!

Also the car won't move unless the controller is directly on the rear bumper?? Tried new batteries but no luck, any ideas how to fix this?

I've attached some photos and what I've found online on the model.

Thanks in advance!!

Welcome to RCT, bro. You can look for parts for the TL-01 on eBay, and maybe even the Tamiya website. They might still make parts. Now on to the radio, you might want to replace the entire radio system, depending on how old it is. But, before that, I would look at the antenna wire on the receiver. If it looks beat up, you might just need a new receiver.

Thanks for the welcome!

ZaneC thanks very much for the info. Quick Google of what a TL-01 was, man was finding everything for chassis parts👍🏾

Any idea where to get shell parts? Needing a rear spoiler.. more like a new shell.

Would be good if RC cars had registration plates. Go to a website put the reg plate in like normal, click search and there is all your parts.

Welcome, cool lookin car. :)
Thanks. I've had a few of these actual fords, plus. Colin MaCrea still holds the WRC championship record, with most wins in Greece, using a focus, exact same livery too.

Very cool buggy! Maybe find a reproduction body shell so you could have one that looks nice on the shelf and one for rolling over and crashing on the track???
I would try and keep the stock shell if possible!

No problem.

Parts shouldn't be a problem, however, a body... Yikes. I can recommend three things.
1: Same thing Mike said.
2: Check Facebook Marketplace. Just keep checking every couple days or so.
3: RC swap meets. Haven't been to one yet, but according to multiple people, it's a good place to find anything and everything.

Most RCs have VIN number stickers placed on the chassis. But since you're car is as old as it is, it might not work... Or even have one.

For the body parts, contact ppl @ Team Blue Groove.
They specialize in older r/c bodies.

That link is for a body that I thought looked similar to yours. I'm sure you can find one that you can paint and make look like another favorite team or customize it to your own racing team colors???!!! You can always buy more than one body to suit your needs!
