Hi,

I have a RS4 3 RTR and I need to upgrade the engine. The 15FE is a POS. It never ran right after I got the Cvev pipe. SO I want to get a new .18 engine. I have a 2 speed, Cvev dual stinger pipe and a new manifold. Other than that its stock. I narrowed it down to a .18 O.S. because I have heard great things about them. I am thinking of buying one with a slide carb and rear exhaust, is this possible? And I have a roto-start, will this fit on the o.s.? THanks a lot.

I have an OS .18 CV-RX with a THS pipe in my RS4 3 Evo and it hauls ass. I have the slide carb on it and had to use a criss cross throttle/brake linkage. I have the pullstart so there might be room to use a rotostart if there is one that is made for it. I am not sure about the rear exhaust exit as I have only seen the side exhaust exit as in mine.

Go w/ the OS. I dont know of any w/ rear exhaust, an i know u can get a backplat for them i dont think you can us roto start only bump start or pull.

that is the wrong linkage part you need.
Please refer to my linkage photo for what type of linkage you need to set up for the slide carb. That is why I posted that photo.

So your saying I can use the stock parts?

The cvrx also looks like it has a different shaft. Why doesn't the CV-R come with a pull start?

you can use stock parts. You would need the servo saver horns that form an L shape when the half moon spring is between them like in the photo.
As for the looks of the different shafts, the CV-R (P) has a pilot shaft as the CV-RX does not. On my CV-RX, I took unscrewed the pilot shaft off of the stock RTR .15 motor and used it on the CV-RX to allow for the 2 speed gearing setup. There is one piece in the photo from tower of the CV-RX that is not needed and that is the small plate that is on the shaft where the flywheel goes.
As for the pullstart, I have a pullstart on my CV-RX.

What shaft do I need then? In your pick you have a CV-R which has a pilot shaft, isnt that what you need?

I dont have any engine mounts. the screws just go into the bottom of the engine.

What battery pack are you using? I am getting an upper deck and a I need a flat pack but the HPI 6V 1100 mah are out of stock.
