Hehehe, gotta love it.

Will the X5 knock off the perenial champ next year? Guess we'll have to wait and see.

I get a kick out of posts like this. Hmmmm - Japan race, where non japanese vehicles arnt gonna be. Is it a suprise that only mugen and kyosho are listed? I think a bit biased perhaps.

I wasn't trying to prove anything with this post just that the event took place. You are correct a %100 NA as in Europe the top buggies are ususally the Euro models and in Japan they are Japanese models and in america we get the mix of both with a little favor to the asia side of things.

What I think is funny about the post is the Lighning Pro that took 8th in the C main.

well, it was the only buggy there that wasn't a mugen/kyosho. Probably more driver than car.

from my experience - it seems that the chassis in buggy racing matters less than any other form of racing. they are all so close. engine and driver seem to play about 99% of the role in this class. I'm sure that if u put a top of the line engine in a ofna mbx, and a kanai III, gave them both to Richard Saxton, the lap times would be almost the same.

almost only counts in horse shoes and hand gernades, almost doesn't count in racing.

you know what i am getting at, though. for the most part, buggy racing comes down to engine/driver - not usually chassis.

BTW - close DOES count in racing, when you arnt racing at an expert level. On anything but the top classes, rarely does the finish come down to "almost" the winner, and top racers are usually several seconds, or even laps ahead.

Baby steps, my friend, baby steps LOL.

OK, so the Lightning will never see world domination, as it has a non-existant race program behind it. But it's a damn fine buggy (at least the pro is) and is more than up to par for club racing. Even if the price was the same, I'd rather have the Lightning Pro than the MP 7.5. Anywho, I'm gald to see the Mugen did so well, I've always thought the Mugen's were badass buggies!

There are differences between buggies, but most are subtle. Things like tuning may be easier on one model over another. Plus the geometry and layout say alot. Some buggies fit a driver's style better also.

No one supports their race program better than Kyosho. Mugen and Ofna are catching up though. On the expert level, it usually means one mistake will cost you the race. Pretty much whoever is on top of their game that day will win. At alot of the tracks I race at you can get away with 3-4 mistakes. If you make more than that, chances are you won't win a 15 min. or more main.

Its like really how many times can we have this conversation, It likes someone says this buggy is better because all these reasons then someone comes in and says it all the driver, buggies are pretty much the same and stuff. I just really want a way around this because it gets us nowhere. 1 some buggies are better than others, and some are A LOT better than others period period period, you can argue it all day but the fact is buggies are different.

Some chassis are easier to setup and tune and some are not as easy and less tuneable. Some are made of better quality parts for better durability. Some have biased diffs and caetor to different driving styles period period period. Sure a lot is up to the pilot that is just common sense period period period. That doesn't negate that fact the some buggies ARE better than others. You tottally have your right to your opinion and I wouldn't try to take that away or shout loud so no one can here it but the fact remains some chassis are BETTER THAN OTHERS PERIOD PERIOD PERIOD. Sure the engine has A LOT to do with power but that does not negate the fact that some chassis are better than others PERIOD PERIOD PERIOD.

I want every adavantage I can get while my driving skills are improving and races and my track are decided by seconds or less than that, so close does not count as far as "can I get the first place trophy since I was a close second?" In a race it's really hard to pin down all the variables that got you to the podium but taking turns on my track has a lot to do with winning as well as not canning jumps and what line you take in the jumps section (timing), so many guys flip in tight turns with some other buggies that are not set up with low CG like the newer better chassis. Shoot I will say it the turn flippers are the Ofna's and the Lightnings (we only have one racer with that model and yes it is the pro). Our races are not decided in straights period.

It cracks me up number one that people think because I posted this I was saying Mugen were the best, I post ALL race results I can find wether they are Mugens that are winning or not, check my G file I am unbiased there. It also cracks me up NA that someone with as much RC knowledge as yourself and you even race that you pretty much try and say all buggies are equal with the same power plant it just depends on the driver, that couldn't be more wrong in my opinion. I say it couldn't be more wrong because that statment is only part of the winning equation. I have driven about 6 different buggies myself and ALL of them had BIG DIFFERENCES in the way the handeled and drove PERIOD PERIOD PERIOD. I also think it is funny that people think the need to come on here and defend the fliping buggies all the time, you are not convincing anyone, get a better buggy period!

This is debateable but this is widely excepted the best models in this order are
Kyosho Kani 7.5
Mugen MBX5
Thunder Tiger EB4 S2
GS Storm Pro
Hyper 7 PVB pro

the rest are alright period but not a TOP OF THE LINE racers, so all you cheap bastards that keep trying to push your buggies on everyone that they are great racers all I can say is BULLSHIT PERIOD PERIOD PERIOD. I think the problem comes from people take that statment meaning I am saying their buggy sucks, but it doesn't it brings the owner tons of joy and works great for jumping high and going fast but is not one of the best raceres, so do not confuse that.

Now this has started flame war in the 1/8 scale buggy forum with grudges that are held to this day about this subject. Now again go ahead and try to convince me your "B" buggy is a great racer.

A lot of people don't like me because of this, well too bad I didn't take acid and come up with this poop myself it is a fact of life and some are wonderful racers and some are not! You all might think I do this to piss people off or make myself feel superior or some other bullshit but believe it or not I don't, but draw you own conclusion.:redbuggy:

Final note, I spend A LOT of time racing, practicing, reading and talking to racers thats how I get my info about buggies and racing, how did you come up with your conclusions?

Top of the line racer? Nah, but it suits me fine for the local club races. Better than an MBX5 or Kanaii? Nope. I do think it's on par with a regular MP7.5 though. I just don't want peeps thinking it's on the same level as an Ultra GT LX or Axis. (Don't know why I care, it's not like I designed the damn thing)

Naturally, the same way. Not a go fast and jump high kinda guy LOL.

HB I've seen some of the flame wars on here back in my lurker days, and that's not what I'm after. Rather I'm after a little give and take, and to reap the knowledge and experience of this board. i.e. the flipper statement. I too experienced that at first, but just chalked it up to whatever RTR setup they threw on it at the factory. Didn't give it much thought after a little testing and setup experimentation, and the flipping went away. For me that's the biggest problem racing the Lightning, lack of factory support. It's definately a 'figure it out by yourself' buggy!

Humbold, i agree with almost everyone of ure statements. If u take a factory driver and give him a crappy car, say an axis, and u get a complete noob that started driving yesterday and give him a kanaii, my guess is that the factory driver would win. Driving skill is atleast 75% of the race in my opinion. My only other comment is(yes i know I'm slightly biases, but I've driven them all) the storm is a better car than the tiger. It has much more widespread support and it handles better. Good post though, cars are definitely not all the same.
