Hi Guys,

Getting close to starting my twin engine build and i was wondering:

if i put a t pipe join on the fuel tank outlet and run a pipe to each engine would they both get sufficient fueling?

or would it be best to run 2 fuel tanks?

the reason i ask is that if i have to put another tank on the chassis i would need to relocate both servo's, which will be a pita but do-able.

Considering my trx 2.5 goes through a 75ml tank in around 6-8 mins, I'm going to take a guess that 2 x .21's on one 125ml tank is going to have an abysmally low runtime.

true, my single .21 uses 125ml in 5 mins flat so i guess its 1 bigger tank or 2 x 125ml.

but still, could i run 2 engines from 1 single tank?

or run 1 tank and 2 swirl pots.....1 swirl pot per engine.

If you want a schooling on a build head over to the Traxxas forums and check out Snook's build thread on the monster in his avatar. It is an absolute piece of art. This may not always be the case, but if Snook recommends something I would do it. Considering the work and detail he has done on that car and his information about running two engines I would suggest at least checking out his thread for at minimum the engine section.

If you wanna waste a few hours heres his build.

cheers buddy.....i don't need schooling though :hehe: I'm quite capable :)

Sorry if that was thought of as an insult, I truly didn't mean it that way. I was just saying that Snook is probably one of the most capable engineers/builders or whatever you want to call him. Capable or not I feel you would be able to gain some knowledge, I know I sure did. Good luck on the build though, I love watching other people projects come along.

its cool

i have been reading his project and its a damn good read!

my engine setup is a lot simpler, my engines can sit side by side and rotate the same way needing zero work apart from holes drilled in the chassis to bolt the other engine to :D

i see by your avatar you have done a twin engine mod?

did you run into many problems?

No real issues with that build as far as twin engines are concerned.
I’ve done a few other twin engine proto types so to speak in the past and found the fuel system/delivery much more consistent with dual tanks.
The only way I would run a single tank with dual engines is if the chassis just didn’t have room (and even then I would most likely build a chassis to fit 2 tanks). If it was at all possible I would take the time to move whatever necessary to accommodate the 2 tanks.
If you are building it for a dedicated speed machine I wouldn’t be too concerned about tank size and run time.

thanks for your input.

i have nearly finished reading your build and i have to say, excellent work :)

my build will not be so umm...not so well engineered! all i have to do it drill a few holes in the chassis lol

its not being built for speed as such, its a basher :D i just thought one day that id like a twin engined 1/8th :hehe:

just so happens i have found a great place to bash with lots of wooded uphill sections so i need plenty of torque.
