i traded newsboy for his lil slash. and so far I'm loving it. however i have ran into a problem. i attempted to make a series connector to allow me to use two batteries. i looked at them online and decided that it shouldnt be too hard to solder one together. after finding the appropiate traxxas plugs(i normally use deans, but dont have enought xtra to do the truck, batts and series plug) and soldering them up in series, my esc just blinks red then green. both are stock traxxas batterys (1200 mah i believe, power level 1) the truck will flat out move with one battery, but i really wanna see the 50 mph outta the little dude. any help here guys? i would greatly appreciate it.:D

Heres some reasons why it might be doing that....

Blinks Red then Green: If the motor has no power, the VXL-3S has entered Over Voltage Protection. If a battery with too high voltage is used, the VXL-3S will go into fail safe mode.

???? I'm using two traxxas power level 1 batteries, the stock ones. if they are over powering the esc, how can you put two in series on the truck? the esc on the truck is the vxl3m combo, stock equipment.

Good question...Hopefully someone with a merv will chime in for you. I never ran mine in series, I went striaght to lipo so I'm really no help here.

lipo is def in the future for this truck, as are some upgrades. there are a few weak spots i have seen from the stock setup. i was actually thinkin of turning it into a merv, but still on the fence about that. lol.

from your experience what lipo does well in this series of truck? i thought about the 1.6 turnigy 3s, but i want some runtime with it. id really like to see it pop some wheelys too.

I ran 1600 turnigy 3s in mine, just like you want. You WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! Wheelies are actually hard to do with the 3s because it wants to flip lol. Instant backflips from a dead stop too, it was awesome.

thats on the merv or the lil slash? and the stock gearing? i know the only diffrence is the suspension arms and wheels, but i have seen the merv do a wheely on stock batts on youtube. no vids of a slash doing a "real" wheely that i have found. lol.

Oh my bad, I thought you got a merv, thats what I was refering to.

I have a mini slash also. It will do a wheelie with slicks and stock batteries. I've changed the shock oil to 40wt. I've pounded the crap out of mine and haven't broken anything. I'm wanting to get some 3s lipos in the future.

I run 3s in my mERV and couldn't keep it off of the lid. The center diff tamed enough to where it just accelerates and goes.

still trying to figure out the series connector. i have ran one battery dead, it wont even turn the esc on. and i still get the same green/red light when using two batts in series. any idea as to whats going on here? as mentioned above, i am using two stock traxxas power level 1 batteries and the truck is stock electronics. any help would be greatly appreciated.

sorry man i have no idea. mine came with a stock series connector. that works fine and its a handful when i run it.

Is your ESC set for LiPo mode? If you are, then it will give an error when you try to run packs in series.

I'm not sure if its in lipo mode or not. but i will definitely find out and try that! thanks

alright guys!!! the esc was set for lipo, after changing to nimh setting the series connector works!!! i absolutley love it. i just wanna know if there is any thing i can do to it to make it more stable at speed? it side rolls like no other! but with both batts it will try to wheely, pulls one wheel pretty hard, but has quite a bit of wheel spin. i may be wrong but it would be hard for me to believe that one 3s lipo is going to give it any more power or speed. I'm not very familar with lipo so i could be way off base here. but i would really like to hear you guys chime in who have a mini, the slash in particular. thanks ahead of time for all your insight. klown
