It being aluminum, it draws the heat away very quickly to the rest of the tubing. I've never tried working with aluminum. But I've seen my dad braze it I think. Low heat torch tip on a propane torch.

The aluminum sticks I bought are actually square tubing so it melts very easy because the walls are so thin. They don't melt with my soldering iron.
I'm going to mess with soldering a couple scrap pieces tomorrow. I may not have cleaned the joint up enough to stick.
I'll buy some tin-silver or tin zinc tomorrow and mess with it.
I'm afraid I may have bit off more than I can chew on this one.
As you can see the bed is all bolted up because I used two part epoxy and then bolted it all together.
The headache rack is what is going to be tough.
I had some thin diamond plate. The thicker stuff I started with was rc4wd I believe. Like twice as thick.

Weekly build thread entry.

Still not sure what I'm going to do with the bed, I leaning towards just scale accessories.
My uncle was a diesel mechanic. His truck had a box bed of course, with a welder, air compressor, generator, etc. It would be pretty cool to try to recreate something like that, like a mobile mechanic from the 1950's.

Exactly what I was thinking. I would like to build the accessories myself though.
I know a guy that has a bunch of popsicle sticks and a ton of tools. I bet I can talk him to it. ;)
