So...I have had my nitro buggy for a month now and have yet to even pull start it yet...LOL!

The reason why is because I have been reading and scouring the internet for info...after days upon days of youtube videos, reading old post on here, and googling and ebaying everything a bunch...I have decided on a few immediate upgrades to do...

I have two futuba s3004 BB, a cheap work stand, a hand full of O'donnells purple sport medium GPs, and a new air filter setup from integy, all coming to me on friday.

The game plan is to tear this thing completely apart and do the upgrades now rather than wait for them to break or or whatever. I am going to seal the engine as well. I would like to upgrade the A arms and or hubs to aluminum...but my budget only allows for $30 every two weeks. (darn bills and responsibilities...) Also I plan to get over sized shocks for it on my next order...

After sealing and rebuilding I plan to heat cycle for the break in...
Anyone know of decent wheels for a 12mm hex size?

any other suggestions are welcome, I love learning new stuff.

Stay away from aluminum arms. One good hit and they're bent, rendering them useless. They also send shock to harder to replace parts. Knowing what kind of vehicle you have will help others to help you.:)

I have heard that it is better to break plastic arms rather than bend aluminum...but the brand I have is said to have brittle plastic...And I left out the brand/ model to avoid people thread crapping...I will post some pics as I make progress.

If your that embarrassed of your rig, you can't do much wrong to it.;) Seriously, the only people that get their threads crapped on already have it coming out of their mouths. If you have an off brand rig that's fragile, run it, have fun and learn with it. Just don't go crazy spending money on it. You'll end up with more into a fragile rig than what a quality new one costs.

@metalhead matt, it is not that I am embarrassed that I am a beginner with a beginner rig make no mistake about that. I have seen the responses and maturity level in other threads and forums and choose not to deal with that and then be made out to look like a bad guy. As a new person to this hobby I seek answer, not backlash.

I am here to have fun and enjoy myself.

Hey we love helping people Gummy that is why we are here...what we hate is when people ask for help then get pissed off because it is not what they wanna here. All good though brother. By the way I still have a Himoto/Exceed 1/10 buggy in the closet and yes it even runs...lol

It's not a big deal if already had the buggy to try and upgrade it. Unfortunately some of the off brand versions don't have many upgrades that you can use without modification.

Aluminum arms on anything larger than a 1/18 scale is asking for trouble. From personal experience I can tell it's better to use plastic or composite arms than aluminum.

Nobody is gona pick on you for what you bought you got it already lets see what we can figure out to help you have hours of fun with it.There are parts that can be used from other brands alot of times with a little modifacation to improve performance and durability. If its not a real high end machine watch how far you go in your pocket before you decide to buy a better rig. There is a lot of guys on this forum happy to help you so lets see what you got and a brand lets get you goin.:D (Oh the only people that catch hell are the ones that have a steady stream of crap runnin out the side of there mouth):whhooo:

2 of my favorite rigs are my duratrax evaders. one is brushless, the other is not. i've had a lot of problems with the ball differentials with the brushless motor it basically twists the bearings all into one big hole and slots the gear. it lasts for a little while. i have a ext with the gear differential. it holds up. i had to put a aluminum idler gear in both. both have been converted to full ball bearings. the only thing i have broke on either of them was a arms only because i basically had them wide open and slid into crap. they hold up for the most part though and i enjoy them.

even the non brushless has had a brushless motor. it will again when i find another.

Thanks for the reassurance there guys!!!

I should be getting my package today!!! I will post pics of my 1/10 hyperspeed I got for christmas next time I get on.

Does anyone know if I can upgrade this battery holder to a rechargeable pack?

I got my trusty battery powered pumpkin carving dremel out and opened up the tiny slot for the servo plugs to fit in...

O'donnells purple super sport medium GP's.

Well that is all I got in the mail today, I have an integy air filter on back order...should be here by mid month...at least I got the servos installed today.

When I pull the trigger for full throttle I noticed the carb does not open all the way...I have the idle screw set at a 1mm gap w/ brakes on. oh and when I let go of the throttle are the brakes suppose to fully engage without bringing the trigger forward? my trim is set at zero by the way....even with the trim set all the way forward the carb does not open completely.

No your brakes souldn't engage till you go forward on the triger readjust your linkages till its right you'll get it.:D

Move your linkage further out on the servo arm for more throw if your out of holes put on a longer arm.:p:

I fixed the brake applying issue with ur help W bill....but as you can see now the throttle/ carb linage is making contact now...should I switch to the round horn futuba provided?

lubed the diff's...

Ethier put the round horn on or drill a hole in that one thats on there and trim it looks like the metal collar is hitting the engine more than anything. Other than that its looking good!:D

Ok I will try the round horn out and let everyone know how it works out. thanks again W bill!

hey did you see my question on the receiver battery holder deal?

If you got the cash you can get tx and rx rechargeable batt pack w/charger check tower hobbies good prices go w/a flat reciever pack always keep any weight as low as you can.Trash them dry cells gets expensive. If you buy cheap ones they dont last.:D

you also have a issue that when your transmitter is in neutral, you're carb is still half open. when you don't have your finger on the trigger, that slide should be as far closed as it will go.

to fix this, just loosen those little round things with a allen screw and slide them where you want them and adjust them.

Thanks guys. as soon as I get more time to mess with it I will change horns and adjust the carb linkage rod stops (or whatever they are called.)
