Well i took the Inferno to work today to run in a grassy area behind the building during lunch. I set up a small ramp at the top of the hill back there and was FLYING. The top of the hill is about 15 feet above the flat area. After hitting the ramp The buggy must have been a good 20 feet off the ground!!!

Because of the grassy flat area they were nothing but soft landings. BORING!!! So I start getting bold....start hitting the ramp at WOT and was getting closer and closer to the asphalt parking lot. On the last jump I made it about 20-25 feet from the jump at the top of the hill all the way to the asphalt. This was NOT a soft landing. So NOT soft that the buggy immeditly lost control and went WOT down the parking lot.

The good news: it only went about 50 feet.
The bad news: The reason it only went 50 feet is because it was WOT into the huge steel garbage bin.

After inspection it seems I only need to replace the following:

Upper A arm
Lower A arm
Hing pin
Dog bone
Shock body
Shock shaft
Shock spring
Lower spring clip
Ball cup for steering linkage
Right side mud guard

So it shouldnt be tooooo expensive to fix but boy was it fun.

Moral of this story.....

If your not running a hump pack, make sure to zip tie your batteries down into the battery holder....AND....put a throttle return spring on your ride...a strong one!

ahh the joys of a runaway. Do you run a failsafe? All in all it doesn't sound too bad all things considered.

Yes I have a failsafe but that doesn't help if the batteris pop out of the battery holder.

doesn't the batteries popping out constitute a signal lose? What do I know, I run a throttle return spring.

That sucks. Get it fixed soon. Same thing happened to me in my storm and I only broke the fuel tank.

I never run anything without a failsafe and a throttle return spring. I strap my bump packs down so I alomost can't get em out when I need to. I learned these things (like everything else RC) the hard way. Also, I dunno if WOT, 20 foot high jumps even on grass is too great for an Inferno or any buggy for that matter.

I've done 40 foot high jumps with my stock storm and it was saying, "come on, You call the height??" I need to extend my 10 foot high ramp or use a bigger runway.

And then what happened?

I smell the 'It can't break' arguement coming on lololol

Well for the record, I did break my Inferno this weekend. Just an A-Arm. Jump was approximately 40 feet in length and the landing sucked. However, I rolled it, full throttle, end over end, PLENTY of times and still nothing else broke. To date, one A-Arm and easily a 100 screwball maniac nutcase jumps thrown at it!

Overall, I think its safe to say that 8th scale buggies are just pure rock solid machines. Whether it be the GS or the Kyosho, they are solid. Track handling is probably the bigger debate.

Well I finally have some pics to show of the damage. Click on the small picture to see the larger one.

Bent Dogbone Bent Hingpin Lower A-Arm

Dude, have you been taking lessons from me?

You did remind me of a place in Washington that I'd like to take my RC's for some killer jumps near where I used to live. While I think the hills may not be as high as I remember it'll still be nice, however I am in Virginia so Washington is way far away.

This has to be the best pic of all of them.

lol....ok just cause I love you sooo much...

It went WOT into a huge garbage bin. ...Like the ones that the garbage trucks come and pickup up with what look like fork lift arms and lift it over the cab to dump the contents into the back...

Well after it hit the bin it bounced off and took off again into some bushes. Thats where I finally caught up with it.

ok Ill stop being a peepee. So you railed a dumpster pretty damn hard! Wonder if you clipped the corner of it and sent it spinning.

I hate hitting hard stationairy objects! Unless its a tree and I was airborne when I did it!

I'm gonna open a business selling comprehensive vehicle insurance for RC cars.

Rates will be based on engine displacement plus premium adjustments for performance hopups, prior claims, and forum witness testimony.

Of course you'll send me your ride in order to settle any adjustment.
