Well I mistakenly tuned an ATV race on the Speed Channel and I got a peek a the Yamaha Rhino. Now I know these have been out for a few years now .....but have you seen what they can fully modded??

Man these are cool and in fact I am shopping for one just now.

Anybody have one? What should I look for?

What mods to do right away?

Seen one up close??

I can justify the cost as I have ranch that could use a new work rig.....;)

Here is a link to a pretty good site about them.

I think that there to much money for something that is just okay. My dads good friend that we go dirt bike riding with all the time has one. Hes got the full cage, back seats, wheel extenders, wheels, full skidz, and a bunch of stuff i dont know anything about lol, and wants the long travle next. So far hes got close to 21 thousand into it. Its fun and everything, but for that price, you could buy a kick ass jeep, or baja bug for that matter. I mean kick ass jeep. Rhino's are cool dont get me wrong, it's just a matter of oppion I guess, I think its weird you dont have to shift it, it would be bitchen if there was like a 3 speed manual tranny in it. But Idk maby if you had a ranch it would be kinda cool to mess around on. But in the desert, its just not.. I just dont know how to explain it. He likes it because he can haul his kids around in it that are to young to ride, which is cool. You just need to ride in one though to really know I guess.

Hit up you tube and you can see what they are capable of. One of my favorites is somebody endo'ing one. At least I think it was a rhino...

They are pretty cool. Like a golf cart on roids. Although, if I was into 4 wheeling, I'd probably go with something a little more for jumping and what not like a normal quad.

When I was in camp Arifjan, we had Polaris Rangers and put them thru hell. Truelly the most fun on 4 wheels I had in along time. I can't speak for the Rinos but I do have first hand experience with the Polaris, I think it would be worth it for a ranch.

I don't know about getting a new Jeep for that. I bought a '07 Wrangler and it was about $10K more....

They are really fun, and becoming a huge thing here in the southwest. They have stock and modified UTV racing classes in bigtime offroad events like Best in the Desert (bitd.com) and SCORE. People get $40k+ into them which is stupid, but they work pretty well with a 4 to 6 inch extended arm set and Fox shocks. Thats not necessary, and I have had a lot of fun in nearly stock ones. But IMO the widened stance makes them handle a lot better, and I think they need more power. But I think everything needs more power.. So look for aftermarket pipes and jetting kits, and ignition boxes that raise the rev limit for more top speed.

Also try to use extended arms rather than wheel spacers for the wider stance. The stock steering knuckle is a weak point, and wheel spacers just aggrivate steering scrub, making it easier to bend the steering knuckle, plus they make steering more difficult in general.

They sold a ton of em in the last few years. With the economy slowing down there are a lot of deals on used ones. Check craigslist.org for bargains.

You bought new, look for a used flat fender or CJ serries, and youll find a deal, trust me I've looked!

I've been looking too. Really want an old one to beat around in.
Saw a "cheap build" on a Cherokee? where they changed the front end to the old style. Pretty simple, looked real sweet. Can't find it now...

Got a buddy that has the Rhino. He loves it. Lots of aftermarket parts out there. Lot bigger and heavier than a 4-wheeler. Something to thing about if ya have to haul it.

the first thing you will want is more speed. the stock speed is like 45 or 50, somthing like that. the easit mod for more speed is a after market cdi box, next either a slip on exhaust or full exhaust, but you will need to rejet the carb and tune the clutch since its like snowmobiles
