I am asking this for a friend. He has the above mentioned truck and is still running the mach .15 with drake pipe, pretty much stock otherwise. It runs great till he takes a big jump at the track and then if the chassis slaps the ground the motor changes sound and runs bad. Has no power and he has to shut it down. Still working on diagnosis, but seems like he has to reprime it to get it going again. Also notices that the tank foams a lot if you just sit there and rev throttle up and down. Any ideas on why the motor changes if it slaps the ground hard?

Thanks,

Glenn

longer fuel lines

btw its a good idea to rebuild the shocks and put different weight oil in.. 35 or 40 should be good

well I did notice my sound changed as well but that was because my coupler came loose. Change the pipe! better yet if your funds allow change your mill as well and a pipe to accomodate the engine.

the drake pipe is perfect... dont worry about it just make sure the plastic peice is zip tied on there and you wanna clean teh header and the pipe and the peice before you put it on there if that was the problem anyways

My xxx-nt use to stall when it landed. After many stalls, I tore the clutch apart and realized the little flywheel pins that hold the shoes were sloppy loose and I had to replace the flywheel, pins, shoes and springs. The little pins were sticking out the back of the flywheel and dragging on the crankcase. Since they got loose, they ruined themselves and everything else, but luckily only made a mild groove in the engine itself.

Check your coupler that connects the pipe to the header. Check the gasket between the header and engine. Check the bolts holding the header to the engine for tightness. Check the carb neck bolt to make sure it's tight and is still making a good seal.

Another thing you will want to replace asap is the fuel tank. If you have the tank that has the pressure fitting in the top of the tank, you will want to get the one that has the pressure fiting in the lid, that tank causes all kinds of fuel related issues. I always had problems with mine with the other tank, I put the updated tank in and it ran much better.
