XTM Sliding Clutch???

Is anyone here using an XTM sliding clutch on there savage? If so, I am curious about dependability and also about installation. I recently purchase the Gpm bi-directional clutch and the shoes are crap. I have been plagues with clutch issues and I just want something good and dependable. Thanks for any insight!

I've got around 3/4 gallon through my mach with the xtm slider and so far it works very well. I haven't had any problems or issues with it yet so I'm happy. I saw several people over at savage-central who had the shoes on that new gpm fly apart and I'm glad that I didn't wait on it.

I too have had mine on my 24.7 Pro for about a gallon now and it's an awsome clutch!!No problems to report as of yet.

Well, I will have to see how things pan out, but the Gpm shoes are cheap plastic. When I first start out it slips like crazy, but after a few hard start the shoes get hot and sticky and it hooks up really hard. I hope they come up with a better composite shoe, because mine are going to be junk in no time.

Thanks for the replies and keep me posted on them. Oh yeah, you didn't have to do any special mods to make your XTM clutch work did you? Thanks again guys!

Nope you just put the flywheel/backplate on like you would any other flywheel and then it's pretty much self explanitory from there. I used an ofna clutch shim kit to get my cb to where I wanted it to be instead of that stupid hpi brass washer that wears away in like one tank and allows your cb to walk off your shoes.

I am very interested in this as I want this or the Fioroni sliding clutch for my PCR pro.

well i tried using the fironi on my savage and it pushed the CB out too far to align with the spur properly. The spur was rubbing the actual bell not the teeth on the end. I went back to the Ofna three shoe and am very happy

I had an alignment problem with my 24.7 Pro and the Xtm sliding clutch. It looked like this with the stock mounts and another set of HPI aftermarket mounts:

I installed the GPM adjustable mounts and got the proper mesh and everything is all good now!!

did you take the CVP off to take the pic?

Yup thats the problem "I" had only a bit worse. The edge of the CB was on the teeth of the spur.

Can you post a link to the GPM mounts you have? I'd like to get one so I can put the Fironi back on.

Thanks.

Hey Rob,
I had the Ofna 3 aluminum clutch shoe setup on my savage with the Hyper 8 port.
Worked great.
I haven't worked on any XTM stuff yet, and don't know if it will work for you.
