Reveiws, threads or anything else you might have on a XTM mammoth. I like how its a MT but also very easy to make into a truggy. I'm thinking I may just buy one instead of the lst2. Anyone have one or had one and how are they in bashing and or racing?

Well... If I was considering those two trucks... um... Losi?

The XTM can be made to be a decent rig, but it's pretty weak all around. Not even something you could compare to the LST2 as far as quality/performance is concerned.

I had one for a while. Chassis flex would eat up the spurs. Running a 2 speed (no slipper built in), the diffs would crap out on you in a short while. Running a center diff helped with drive train durability, but it still requires much better chassis braces to not make it so flexible so it doesn't eat up spurs all the time. The shock towers are pretty soft and bend pretty easy. The hinge pin holders are also ridiculously soft and bend if you look at them funny. Also, requires a decent engine to get any performance out of it if your trying to run a tall enough center diff spur to have it go fast enough to be any fun.

It was a learning experience for me. I learned I shouldn't have had a mammoth.

But, if you'd like a decent read, go here:

Many pages of a racer mammoth build up.

+1 on bad diffs, my friend has one, its fine when on asphalt but as soon as you hit the track the diffs are bad.

Okay so I completely off the wall question, What about the Raze ST? I have a buddy of mine selling his and it has a OS 30vg and OS 2070 pipe with a couple more upgrades. All for 200 bucks...Take it?

Well... if the engine has life left in it, the yes. By all means, YES! The engine and pipe alone were almost $400 new. Take the engine/pipe off, sell the chassis on ebay for $100 and you just picked up a nice engine/pipe combo for $100.

Then, take that $100 and put it towards an LST. Then sell the engine out of the LST on ebay for $100 (unused of course) and it would sell in a day or two I'm sure, since most are going for $150'ish including shipping.

That OS and pipe would look so much better in an LST anyway. ;)

Just my .02.

Okay i got the full details on the engine and electronics. The OS has about 3/4 gallon on it with proper break in and the pipe the same. It also has futaba s9351 T/B and a futaba s9156 steering servo.
