Hello all. I have a XTM 457 engine on my BB Tmaxx. However, when I was just about to start it after a few years, the pull start stopped retracting after a few pulls. I opened it up to see the spring had snapped in half. I tried returning the spring, and will keep trying, but I don't think it will work for a while. Does anyone know where to find a replacement, or an alternative that works? And what is the spring that is in the fourth pic used for? Thanks in advance.

Would this work as an alternative? https://www.amainhobbies.com/sh-eng...k4fWuRBxD6taSAOyoNASTlbs9hwqs2zsaAvi3EALw_wcB

The last pic includes everything that was attached to the engine.

That one might work if you can find one. Or one of the cheap dynamite ones that are pull-start only (not the pull/spin combined).

Like this one:
https://www.amainhobbies.com/pullstart-.21-8-and-.28-8t-rtr-dyne1501/p584848

That's for this engine and a few others:
https://www.horizonhobby.com/produc...and-truck-engines/28-rtr-engine-w-ps-dyne0571

So can I use this one? It's on a special offer and its really cheap. Since the 457 is a .28, any .28 pullstart should work right?

you can find a few entire pull assembles online. Its like many things in our hobby if its not listed as usable for that specific model it wont work. the manufactures have there own differences so others parts can't swap out and they lose that money ....so no I dought that starter will work the 1 I listed will

Most XTM engines are SH based, they use SH parts. just like Dynamite uses SH based engines and use SH parts. it is the safest bet to get direct fit OE parts, but for an engine long discontinued, that would be more difficult and price consumptive than finding another companies badged same part.
that link they are out of stock and searching the part number i was unable to find a site that still has them in stock.

not quite any .28 pull start, but any of that engine is based on (i.e, XTM is SH based, so SH based engines pullstarts for the .28 should fit)
i do have a losi (SH based) Mach .26, if you can get me the bolt pattern between the pullstart housing screws, i can see if it is the same to double check if you would like.

Hey dude,
thanks for the offer. I have rewinded and fixed the pull start on my 457 so there is no need.
Thanks anyways.
