Bryan, how many turns out are your high and low needles set? One thing I noiced about the 24-7 is it likes to run fat on the top end, and lean on the bottom. Breakin setting is 3 1/4 turns out on the high end, but my rig runs at 4 to 4 1/4 turns out. Puts me in the optimal heat range of 250 to 270 degrees in this hot weather. But as we all know each engine has its own little quirks. Also what fuel? 20%, 30%? It makes a diffirence 'cause you have two different head shims. A .10mm is for 30% fuel and the .20mm is for 20% If you dont lower the compression with the 30% you will tend to overheat and run erratic. Usually after a subsantial breakin period it is wise to step down to a cooler plug if running the higher grade fuel.
Ok, lets get back to baisics. You say it starts then bogs out, and sometimes it won't start.
Start with both low and high needles at 3 1/4 turns. and set your idle screw to where you see a 1 to 1 1/2 mm gap in the carb barrel.
Get it started and let it warm up for a minuite, then check your transition (from idle to mid throttle), it should smoke like crazy and be sluggish if not die. lean out the high end a 1/8th of a turn (counterclockwise) until you get a good transition, a slight bog is normal. Do this until you can stab it and get that BUUWAAAAAAP sound. Drive it to see if you are still emitting a good smoke trail, if not your too lean.
On your low end you need to lean it until it dies when you stab it and then fatten it up a 1/16th of a turn (counterclokwise) until you can transistion from idle to full throttle smoothly. Then set the idle stop screw to meet your paticular taste. Just below engaging the trans.
If you still have problems check for air leaks around your carb and fuel system, old of contaminated fuel, or glow plug performance.
I hope this helps (if even a little).
