I got the .18 tuned today. It's definetaly a worth while engine for the maxx. As i said in my previoius post, mine was used for about 2 gallons in a stadium truck before the swap.
It's got plenty of power. It tunes nicely if everything is good with no air leaks. It smoked the stock clutch quick.
Once again I had to totaly change my driving style. It shifts almost instantly. If I so desired I could spin the tires on pavement/gravel until I had no tires left to spin.
When I caught air on the speed bump, or bump in the terrain, It would often wheelie/flip on landing, not expecting that kind of power.
With a 20 tooth clutch bell, it had a lot more torque/power than the trx pro with a 18 toother. (enough to ballon the tires when one wheel is off the ground.
I found that I could run the XTM at 170-200 and still have enough power to have fun with. When tuned to 240-260 it really comes alive.
I was running 20% nitro, 16% oil. I am sure with Trinity 20%N-12%O or the likes it could bring even a little more power out of it. I have the XTM tuned pipe made especially for the .18, with the XTM header for the t-maxx Application
This is again a used engine.
It as easy to tune as any other decent engine. If you know what you'e doing you can find the sweet spot fairly easy.
If your looking for enough power to really get your T-Maxx rolling, but not so much you you blow your drive train apart. This is the ticket.
If you're looking to be able to pull wheelies, be able to roost, and have some damn sweet top end, this engine will do it.
If you're looking for enough power to have a blast without doing a conversion, again this is the ticket
BTW the best customer suport I have seen in any company R/C or otherwise.
I'll see if I can gather enough coin to get some 20%N/12%O and grab a video of it running around so you can judge for yourself.
Anyone else have any experience with the XTM .18 in the maxx?
