I've seen this around for quite some time and we all know that the XTM 24.7 was a decent mill.

Anyone have the XTM 18 in anything? Any info on real life use on performance, longevity, tunability...

I figure, rear exhaust, SG shaft (not pictured), the only poopy thing is the rotary carb, but I'm sure a self proclaimed RC wizard such as myself could get the linkage to work...
(I just used the word wizard... huh huh... huh huh...)

in the december 2004 r/c car action tested some .18's the xtm was one of them they said it was a solid performer had great excelartion of the line but lacked a little on top end. the test was done in a maxx truck hope that helps

Better than nothing... but I like "normal" people's opinions instead of a magazine.

I think I was subscribing to RCCA then. Didn't they line up a whole bunch of small blocks in that one? The orion wasp 18 (sucky), sirio 18, epic 18... the OS 18 wasn't around yet.

ya sorry i can't help ya there have never seen one go not much xtm stuff around the east coast really

Olds, I bought my kid an X-cellerator with the little .18 engine. I'm not going to be much help, because I wouldn't run it. (told him if it broke, he fixed it)

I can tell you that it was easy to tune and it held a tune pretty good. Seemed like a pretty good running engine what little I was around it. I always wondered why nobody ever mentioned them.
If you can't find anybody here with one, might check their forum.

do you know if that engine is made by the same people who make the duratrax .18?

I don't think it is... that was a joint effort I beleive from duratrax and OS. But from what I heard, the Duratrax 18 is garbage.

yeah, it may be. i just wondered because it's super cheap and it makes pretty good power. i've worked on a couple of nitro evaders with that engine in 'em and they all do big stupid wheelies on demand.

My buddy ran that .18 for a while in his old NMT. Was a decent engine, very reliable with decent torque. It did lack a little up top, but not much. He ran it in a sand pit without a filter for a whole tank by accident lol, cleaned it all up and was good to go. Like I said very reliable. Very similar to the 24.7, just small block size lol.

You kill that 2.5R already olds?? lol

No... lol... not yet. It doesn't run worth a crap if its colder than 45 degrees out no matter what I do. I was just purusing around to see what I could find for when it does die. If I choose to not go 2.5R again.

I've only run a gallon through it so far. I've done a bit to it since you had it... you may not recognize it as well now.

I've installed the P2 rockers. Takes air much better now without slapping the ground quite so hard. I've also upped the spur count to 40 and dropped the bell to 14. It pretty much wheelies when I want now. I broke an axle last time I was out... took me all week to win a set on ebay to replace the thing. But we just got 8 inches of snow last night, so I won't be out with it for awhile anyway... I just don't like having a broken truck on the shelf.

Yea, I can tell by the blue shock ends lol. I'm the only one I have seen who got blue ones.

But yea the XTM .18 is a decent engine, much like the 24.7 just smaller.
