I'm betting on a tuning issue but it takes me close to 1/2 a tank before i can WOT my 5.9. Otherwise as soon as it hits second gear it dies instantly without even sputtering. This does go away by my second tank, but can happen out of the blue even once warmed up during the 1st tank. Wouldn't mind some input from the pro's because man does it suck walking to this thing when it dies in second gear, by then its a good hike to fetch it!!
thanks in advance

How new is the engine? What break-in process did you use? How much fuel through it? What are your temps, fuel brand/percentages and glowplug?

Where are you located? (high altitude or "normal")

engine has 1 gallon thru it, 1st 2 tanks just idleing, next 2 tanks did circles at 1/4 throttle, next 2 at 1/2 throttle all the way up to wot, using 20% fuel, temp 250, located in alberta canada (normal altitude??i think)

Is there a lot of fuel spitting out of the pipe? Does it idle ok? It does sound like a tuning issue... however, not sure what.

What does the end of your glow plug look like? Brown, wet, black, silver? How does the coil inside the plug look? Is it deformed at all? Is it silver or white? Does it burn up plugs in a short time? Or rather, how many plugs have you gone through in your entire gallon?

Is this your first nitro?

Sorry for all the questions, but without seeing/hearing it, it's tough to diagnose stuff without playing 20 questions.

If it dies on top end that is sure fire sign of being way lean. Richen the HSN back up.
An air leak could cause this as well.

idles fine, no spitting, there is lots of blue smoke on acceleration, 1 gallon=1 plug, plug is kinda black and not really wet but a little, Truck is only 1 month old but I guess an air leak may be plausable, I should be able to soap test everything with the motor still installed right? (just blow in the fuel intake line while plugging the air intake below the filter while soaping the carb base, back plate, and needles? correct?)

also check the fuel pipe connected to the tuned pipe. there should be enough back pressure for the fuel to enter the carb form the tank.
