My father and I have been having problems with our computers so we found this place www.geekstogo.com and they walked each of us through cleaning out adware, spyware, and malware for free. Its unblievable how well, and how much information they are willing to give up to the everyday Jo.

So if any of you guys are having problems check out that site and follow their instructions you won't be dissapointed!

yea.. me to lol.. that what i do for a living (for now) i coulda did that.. lol. me and rb used to work together.. i still work there and he does his own stuff around town.. between the two of us we can prolly handle just about any ibm based pc problem you have..

ok dont want to hijack the thread but i can't pass it up with two computer techs in the thread,

i have two computers in my shop, i want to be able to have the computers work independantly normaly.. but then be able to show whats on the screen from one on the others monitor when desiered

can it be done?

you could use some sort of remote control software.. then you could take over one computer from the other and achive what you want.. they had this software where i went to college.. the teacher could override our screen to display what is on his and show us something.. or see what were doing (normaly not what were supposed to be doing) but it requires a network setup.. if there not two far away from each other you could use a dual input monitor and vga splitter or kvm and splitter

Where in Windows Explorer or the CP would I go to see if Spyware or similar is on my computer, and how can it be deleted?

download these softwares

spybot search and destroy
ad-aware se
microsoft antispyware
these three are free and can be downloaded off the web.. install them then update them. then scan your machine and delete all the stuff they find.
these are the three i use and when used together will remove almost everything..

also buy norton antivirus. the new norton also finds spyware and will find some that these dont.

befor you scan go through and delete all your temp, temporary internet, and windows temp files. thats where most of the spyware is stored..

also run msconfig and shut off anything you arent useing

you can run a program called hijack this and post your scan results on various websights, and others will be able to tell you what to remove (you could do it here but this isnt a computer forum..)

if you have any questions pm me or rb and we can help further..

Thanks. I can handle that.

I dump all my cookies, cookies temp files, history and temp files everyday. Makes it a PITA to get to forums like this one, but glad to know it helps protect me.
