hello everybody i am looking to buy my first crawler and i need something under $150 I'm not tryin to ask for much I'm just really short on money i dont need no $200-300 crawler just something a newbie can start out with and i need it to be complete i could probobaly find a good remote for it and battery to i just want some thing i can have fun with no looking to get in to competition yet i still have a lot to learn so help would be greatly appreciated thanks,Brandon :):surrender:bow:

thanks i know i have a low budget but when you are a kid money is rare especially me..thanks for the info where can i find some more pictures of it like close-ups and is already set up for rock crawling???

look into an e-maxx maybe there not super crawlers but they work good and they also do on road

Speaking of crawlers... is it possable to make a nitro crawler? I assume no for various gearing reasons but can sombody explain why?

It's because the nitro has a clutch. When your crawling, you need direct power and holding power. With a nitro, you have to spool up before the clutch engages, and while you're sppoling you would have already fallen backwards off the rocks, lost the competition, and your rig fell into the grand canyon. With electric, there isn't a power band, It's full torque from the slightest pull of the trigger, which is what provides the instantaneous response and holding power for crawling. Of course, there is a much more scientific answer, but I kinda dumbed it down to make it easy to explain.

You're not going to find a cheaper crawler than the Axial AX-10 rock racer that smaxxin mentioned. The other rigs would take more than your budget just to begin to get the crawling, where as the axial is ready to go and can be picked up new for $250, and used for your budget and better occasionally. If you're thinking of getting into crawling, just save your money for a few more weeks and buy the axial. I almost got a TXT-1 because it was for a good deal, and then realized that I was going to get something that was not what I wanted at all, so I waited for about 5 days until I had the extra hundred bucks and bought the axial kit, which I am absolutely in love with.

Another option would be the wheely king 4WD, but you will spend just as much on it as the axial, and then have to spend more to get it crawling.

ok everything you guys are saying is making sense so i guess ill try to save up some more. the axial ax-10 was the first one i wanted but it was $250, but i will have to save up for it. i saw a custom roll cage for it that was flat out AWESOME, so i will probably put one on to keep from breaking stuff bein an amateur at this hobby, but thanks for the help everyone!!!

I think you're talking about the TCS Edge chassis, it looks kinda like a rool cage, but it's actually a tube chassis. It's very similar to the chassis that is used in 1:1 crawlers, and drag cars, things like that.

You really need to check out the projects section and see NC Nitro's tubar build, it's absolutely amazing, and it gives a good look at a custom tube chassis. One thing with a crawler, you can make it look really scale if you want, which you can't really do with a MT.
