I just bought a 52T spur gear and I thought the savage 21 had a different size, but I guess its not, I should have researched this......I want to get a spur gear that will allow me to do wheelies on command, Not all the time, just sometimes, what should I change the spur gear to??? I'm gonna return this one and get a different one after I get some feedback.......HEEEELLLLPPP or what would be something better to spend the $5 on?

The 52 Tooth will give your more wheelies and the 49 tooth (on the SS and 25 RTR) wil give you more top speed, assuming you don't change the CB. The reason for this is they upped the power in the SS and 25 RTR to the .25 so they geared it down a little with the 49 tooth. Right now you can also get a 47 tooth.

For wheelies you should stay with the 52 Tooth gear, or for even more wheelie power you could get a smaller CB.

I'd suggest changing the cb instead of the spur. Changing the cb makes a greater differance.

Do you know how many teeth your cb has?

In order to get more power, you need to get a larger spur or a smaller cb. I run 14/52 and mine wheelies whenever I want it to... it's a little slow on the top end, but it gets around ok for where I drive. I'm running a non-stock engine though.

Hrmm, So its got the 52 right now ,and the stock CB, how hard is that to change? I'm gonna exchange that Spur Gear tomorrow for something, but I dont know what.......and other mods for a couple bucks I can do?

The cb is really easy to change out, just take out your engine and it's just one screw holding it on. Have a pair of vice grip or channel locks handy to hold the flywheel while you unscrew the cb screw. Make sure you put a dab of blue locktite on it when you put it back on.

I think I'm gonna return the Spur gear today for a new CB (if its worth it) or else an dexhaust deflector...........the stock CB is 14T right, what should I get 13T?

Sorry, I don't know what's stock on a 21... I didn't get mine new and I bought my own cb, but I bought a 14, 15 and 16. I toasted my 15 or 16 on my maxx (running against rc-solutions spur), so now I'm not sure what I have. I do know I have the 14/52 combo on now.

Might try get a 53T spur, or 14 cb.........which is better to increase the size of?? I would imagine adding a tooth to the cb will do more than adding a tooth to the spur.......a 47T spur gear would give me more top end right? less low end torque, am I thinking correct on this?

Smaller spur = lower torque, higher speed
Smaller cb = Higher torque, lower speed

Changing a tooth on the cb is like changing the spur by 4 teeth. Changing the cb has a lot more of an effect.
