So i currently purchased a used HPI Rs4 Evo nitro car off ebay... got it the other day.. went out with a friend and got it running. brakes didnt seem to be working right.. started to look at my friends and compare them cuz hes got the same car... there are 2 metal plates on each side of the little round part there.. well the kid had the 2 plates together .. anyways.. i took it all part switched it around but when i started the car back up without giving it any gas at all its just blasting WOT and i gotta turn it off or ill blow up lol. How did that happen and how can I fix it.. I'm new to all this so my lingo isnt the best lol little round thing..:(

PICS man, that would help

Take the air filter off and see if the space is around 1mm before you start the car. Make sure you don't get any dirt in there or bye bye engine.

Well, for starters, the brakes and the throttle work with the same servo, going in opposite directions.
Remove the servo arm, turn on the Rx and Tx....don't start the engine....turn the throttle trim ALL THE WAY DOWN, center the servo, reinstall the arm so the carb is in the idle position. When that's set correctly, make the mechanical adjustment to the brakes.

the "little round thing" is the brake disc. Did you get a manual with it? If not heres a .pdf of it. http://www.hpiracing.com/manuals/pdf/10001.pdf Rolex's post should fix your problem. Remember ALWAYS make sure your transmitter (TX) and receiver on the car (RX) are on and that moving all the controls does what their supposed to do on the car BEFORE starting the engine. Also if it doesn't have a fail-safe on it already get one ASAP before you wreck the car or hurt someone/something.
