So upon receiving my Savage it pulled fine the very first go. After getting the Picco tuned up just right it began slipping something fierce. All gears look fine so this is to blame correct? Appreciate the help!

Did you tighten the slipper nut? It's always good to have a few spares as well- and anyway, looks pretty worn to me...

I've found that those as well as other parts of the drivetrain are worth keeping spares of just in case. When my spur gear was toast, I bought three since they were about $3/ea. That being said, how do your friction pegs look? If you have it all apart and they're pretty worn, you might as well change those out while you're there.

Well, there are a few schools of thought on what to do with that. For the life of me, I could not gear very tall after installing an LRP28S3 in my savage. So the thing was pretty much doing a wheelie, always. I tried going up a tooth or two on the bell, but then the slipper would slip after about 2 tanks of fuel and once it slipped, it was over and melt the spur. So, tried going down a couple teeth on the spur, same thing. It was fine in first gear, but once it shifted into second, the engine overpowered the slipper.

I gave up and got an HPI steel spur and hardened bell. Has been fine ever since. Still a wheelie machine, but it calmed down some and now the top speed is a lot higher. I'm running 47/16 now. Could easily go up one or two on the bell and still not labor the engine in grass too much.

Always had good luck with OFNA hardened bells.

Appreciate all the info guys! I just had got the truck so I had no extra parts at the moment(won't happen again lol) but I do have pads on the way. The pegs on the slipper are worn some but I think they will work for now. I just want to drive the truck lol, I have yet to drive it more then 5 feet. After I get it up and going, then I'll start upgrading everything.
