I'm converting all my old Zappa collection to Digital.
I forgot how great Willy the Pimp is to listen to. That and Joes Garage. :D

My favorite has got to be "Don't Eat the Yellow Snow".... cuz that's were the eskimos go!

its about time you closet Zappa fans showed yourselves.

Going back many years, I was at a sushi bar in San Rafael CA and there was only one seat left at the bar. No one wanted to sit there due to the fact that there was an ragy assed homeless dude sitting in the next seat. Dude had found someone's wallet on the sidewalk or something because he was scarfing all the food he could eat. I mounted the chair next to him and he just started ordering more food and trying to share it with me. WTF, he was persistent so I joined him and sat there for 5 hours eating and getting toasted with him. As time went on I found this guy had an extremely good education and had traveled the world many times over. About an hour in I realized I was having a great time chatting with Frank Zappa. At the end of the evening, he thanked me for not asking him anything about being a celebrity or trying to anything more then hang out. He told me it was a memorable evening for him being able to talk to someone without them being star struck. He gave me his card and told me to call him for another dinner out. Sad to say, I never got the chance. I still have his card. RIP.

That is sweet! What an awesome experience. Thanks for sharing.

Awesome story, Ed. I never fully got into all the Zappa albums, but have a couple, right next to my Warren Zevon. Bet you can't guess what my favorite song from Zevon is?!?

If you are real cool about the situation, amazing things can happen to you in the Hollywood area.

One time, about 15 years ago, I was with 2 of my buds and we were going up and down the street checking things out. In one store my friend was standing across a round clothes rack from this really pretty girl. She's checking him out, and he hardly noticed her. I walk up to him and tell him that she is checking him out. She then walks over and asks us three to walk with her down the street. I know who she is but my friend has no clue. After a few more shops she thanks us for walking with her, then explains, to the shock of my friend that she is Paula Abdul and she wanted young, strong men to walk with her so noone would bother her (this is when she hit it big with her first album). My friend stammered out, "Do you have a business card?". We all laughed, but she did have one for her agent and put a note on it to call anytime and mention the shopping trip.

I wouldn't ditch my wife for Frank Zappa, even if it only was for a few hours...:ponder2:
